Gibbs said in the article that JR Reed wanted to be coached by Mel Tucker and that Georgia gave him the best opportunity to go to the NFL. It sure sounds like Tucker gave Georgia an advantage in JR's recruitment. It's just a fact of recruiting that Tucker's 10 years of NFL experience as a DC and DB coach is attractive to HS DBs. I actually believe many college and HS coaches are better than NFL coaches, but my opinion doesn't count. Of course in Tucker's case, he has coached both in college and the NFL.

It's also logical to think that Jake Reed having played 12 years in the NFL is also drawn to a coach with significant NFL experience like Tucker. I'm quite sure Jake Reed was involved in JR's decision, and you can bet that Gibbs is going to elicit guidance from Jake Reed; who Gibbs says is like a second father to him; and has been heavily involved in his training.

Not predicting Gibbs will end at Georgia; but I do think they at least have a shot. I still think Bama is a possibility, and he recently said he's going to go on some visits; which means anything can happen.

If I am not mistaken, Alabama and Georgia had all the momentum on Nigel Warrior last year, until late in the recruiting process. Then he decided to sign with us.

I think I will wait to see how things stand in December or January before I waste any time being concerned over what Deangelo Gibbs decides to do.

I honestly don't think OV has ever missed on a Georgia kid.

This. Been around the board for a while, and he's as trustworthy as they come with GA kids. He doesn't post much, but I also like hearing his opinion on recruits (i.e. playing ability/talent, not likely destination).

Thanks cat..the guys acting like it is no big deal to be blown off by every elite player we are after, are being deliberately obtuse. Can they turn it around to a degree? Yeah maybe, but there is no freakin way this class turns out as good as it was supposed to be..and should have been. Mediocre classes are going to kill the momentum gained the last 4 years. I'm not hating on the staff, well except for one guy that pretty much everybody agrees is a anchor around Butch's neck. I just think we caught an unbelievable run of bad timing, bad luck, bad news, and bad miss steps. Same old story for us.

You see any really elite players left on the horizon, outside of maybe Chandler, that you really believe we are getting? And he is even iffy as heck. Name them if you can. You really feel good about Gibbs or Smith? And Higgins is gone like yesterday.
