Not going to minimize your disappointment, but when you say "as it was supposed to be...or should have been", aren't you coming across a little unrealistic and/or entitled? I guess a valid question to ask you is do you feel that there was something the staff could have done...but didn't do? And by "same old story", how "old"? We've had a run of relative recruiting success..."same old" as what? :dunno:

Kids will pop up. Say tenn wins the east all the sudden names will pop up. I had not even heard of tyler byrd until the end of last year. Winning is still how you get players and we win and they will come. Elite players left doesnt matter as kids flip all the time . Let things play out i have a feeling we will be alright :)

Entitled..Really? Come on man, everybody thought this was going to be a GREAT class, not just really good, but great. Right now I don't see how its even going to be really good. I have never been a stargazer, but I know a class with a low three star average in not going to cut it going diwn the road. I already said I don't blame the staff. I have always been, and will continue to support Butch Jones. The man is working himself to death. It is mystifying to me how it could be going this hard. I'm not stupid for feeling this way.

And I hope you're right. I hope everything turns around. I don't give a crap about being right. I love the Vols win or lose, I've been right here through the worst. But I'm freaking sick of losing, and bad news.

Never brought up insults or minimized your concerns...just don't know what YOUR next course of action is. Mine? Enjoy the season and let things happen...knowing the staff isn't quitting and will keep it going on the recruiting front. If you don't? Can't help you. Hope the wait for utter doom is relatively painless? :hi:

I'll say one thing butchie..no matter how crappy I feel about things..you still make me chuckle. I look at it this way, if I expect utter doom, and instead receive absolute joy. Then it will just make the joy that more..awesome..er? :)

You're a good guy...take my comments in that vein. :) I'm not going to lie and say I'm stoked about our recruiting, but I actually enjoy hidden gems and perceived underrated kids...especially ones that redshirt a season (like OL). All I know is that our coach doesn't do LAZY...we've had a little of that in the past and it's a program killer. :hi:

Man I love last years class for that reason, I really believe that outside of missing on DT, it will be just as good as the 2 before it. And I think we have a couple or three, badly underrated guys now, but I just feel pretty..meh..about the rest. Let em prove me wrong, I hope they do.

We are in on some elite linemen on both sides of the ball. We have missed on some skill positions, but frankly, those receivers QBs and running backs are harder to project than a great OL or DL. There is a reason everyone wants the great DTs

The way I look at it: who have we missed on that we really wanted? - Higgins. That one stung. Who else? Not how we feel about the ones we have or how likely we are to get the rest because all that is fluid. The ones we have will ball out or won't make the cut. Most will ball out; the staff knows how to evaluate. When we win on the field this year, the rest of the pieces will fall into place. We will miss some we wanted, but we will gain others we didn't have on the board at this time. They haven't given us a reason to doubt them in recruiting yet.

I understand not being overly excited yet. But I don't understand all the gloom and doom. Before this year, they could sell playing time. They could sell playing in the biggest football game ever. They could sell the team on the rise. Now big time recruits can sit back and see if we're for real now that the pieces are in place. We are for real. And the recruits will come.

For the last couple of years everyone has been talking about the 2017 class being "epic". Tennessee has a lot of in state talent this year and our first two commits were a 5* QB and a 5*WR. So for most fans the excitement level was through the roof.

Now both of those guys are committed to Clemson, as well as a highly ranked TN RB and Tee Martins son. Gibbs is looking questionable, as well as elite in state guys like Trey Smith and Jacoby. And now we find out TL won't be coming here next year either.

So fans are kinda bummed. And you can't really blame them if you ask me.

I may be in the minority, but I think we still have a great chance to sign Gibbs, Smith, Chandler and Akers.

Can't recall this being addressed...but how are Shoop's recruiting chops? Haven't heard any mention of that aspect since we brought him aboard, on any site.
