So, the fact that you selected sites that do not agree with Scout's rating means they are right and Scout is wrong?

Personally, I don't care what any of the sites rated our class. As far as I am concerned, we filled needs and are going to be able to redshirt many of the 2016 signees, which is a step forward for the program.

247 Sports is the most legit recruiting website to use. They keep things updated too for most of the individual prospects & class rankings much better than Scout & Rivals.

Yup. I use to prefer Rivals rankings, but the 247 site. Now to me it's 247 all the way. I just go with the composite now for rankings with every recruit.

247 and Rivals are widely accepted as the two best recruiting sites in the industry. Scout is better than they used to be for sure but virtually no one uses them as a primary source.

So if you give a blanket, matter-of-fact statement like you did IMO, most everybody is gonna go to Rivals and 247 to verify what you said, not to Scout, which is universally accepted as the 3rd or 4th most reputable site. So if you're skipping over the #1 and #2 sites who both disagree with what you said, to get to the #3 site, that sure looks like cherry picking.

All that being said, I agree with your last paragraph. 2016 was a very good class that brought in a mix of outstanding talent and players who address our needs very nicely. Regardless of what any of the sites say or assess, it was a strong class IMO.

Yall know Day? The guy who does the recruiting analysis thing? Did he take the avg star rating into consideration?

Sorry, I copied a quote of mine from yesterday. The addition of Jeremy Lewis did drop us down. Before adding depth at a position of need, we had improved in rankings. The irony. . .

Tells you all you need to know about the validity of said rankings.

Man, what a blow it would be to lose both Higgins AND Gibbs, two of the people that were thought to be universal locks for the longest time. I'm not saying "panic" or anything, there is still time. But....damn, to lose them both after we apparently had them both as locks would be just horrific. They were supposed to be the two gems of this class.

Barton Simmons' CB predictions are glorified educated guesses at this point. He has repeatedly said that he makes the predictions based on his feel at the moment based on what he hears. He has regularly changed his picks in the past.

The longer he holds off announcing, the better our chances. UGA has momentum right now, and they're pitching intangibles. Once the season starts and we're rolling, recruits will want to be a part of what we're selling.

Makes sense he changes picks based on what he's hearing. Recruiting and recruits themselves change their minds daily.

Be careful..the Rainbows and Unicorns mob will be after you for such blasphemy.

That being said..my feelings on Gibbs are..It would not shock me now to lose him to UGA. But I actually think if we win like we are supposed to, we get him. If we have another "meh" season. I think this class will be a disaster.

I'm leaning we're in the SEC title game and IMO we secure a top 15 class. In the event we are in the playoff, top 10 class is unlikely but possible. Miss on getting to the SEC title game and it's going to be a top 20-25 class at best.

I feel we've lost Gibbs no matter how it plays out.

If he would have just added, "But 2 guys don't make a class and our staff has proven they can evaluate, find, and sign better players". He would have been ok.

Two guys don't make a class. You are 100% correct. My only purpose was that I really was hoping to land both Gibbs and Higgins. And as I said, we very well could still land Gibbs it's a long way off. Lots can change. Just a bad momentum streak at the moment.

This is why the season needs to get here. We need to be able to show these recruits that our product is working. September 1st cannot come soon enough.

IMO 9 wins should have been enough to sell top recruits on the improvement. UT went from being embarrassed in blow outs under Dooley to being right there to win at the end vs some of the best in the country. IMO it's sellable. It's clear progress. Now why is our staff struggling to sell it? Schools not picked to contend for SEC and or a national title are whooping us recruiting wise. It's a problem.

Higgins was a strong want, because we hoped he would be the Pied Piper for in-state and elite recruits. Gibbs is a better player for our system. I think we'll be in Gibbs' ear until NSD, and once the season starts, we'll be showing not telling.
