Orange Venom- can you calm us down any with some perspective since the VQ update that basically said it will be an upset if we land Gibbs? Thanks for any info you have.

I don't get it. Hobbies are supposed to be enjoyable. If someone doesn't enjoy following recruiting, it may be time for a new hobby. The exception of course being the trolls who love stirring the pot. cough **crunchy leb** cough

You have to understand what a person's hobby actually is.
If they are bringing misery to every discussion, football isn't the actual hobby.

I enjoy following recruiting. There are good times and bad. Just like the football season itself. There are good times and bad. I don't stop cheering for my Vols when they suck(Dooley, I'm looking at you). I'm also not blind to what I'm looking at on the field. Why would I stop following recruiting just because it looks like our staff is lost? I follow it hoping to see it get better. I don't need to sprinkle it with sugar to make myself feel better. I tend to call it like it is.

I will mention Gibbs was at Cox Communications building this week. I DON'T think he was there to do a video but you never know. I think he was probably there to do the Super 11 shoots but other recruits weren't mentioned. No sign of turtles or Uber drivers tho so I'd say it's safe to say it's just a promotion type thing.

Following sports is a hobby. If someone's team loses, they'll get upset to varying degrees. Really no different in recruiting.

Someone did not read the whole post. Losing out a couple of DBs is not a big deal in my mind.

Now, come FEBRUARY if we don't get Akers or Chandler, or someone who isn't at their level, I will feel disappointed.

If we don't add a bit more to our DL/DE haul, I will feel disappointed.

If we don't get a highly touted LB, I will be disappointed.

Do I expect any of that? No. I think we have a big year and we become hot on and off the field.

Am I gonna piss and moan in July with so many targets still out there? No.

Will our class be top 15? I would bet yes.

Top 10? Quite possibly. Names are gonna be out there this fall, just wait on it.

The lack of faith on this board is alarming, especially with the most potentially exciting year in the last 20 coming on strong. Isn't this part of the bible belt?

Really good post Newt.
