I think this is a big reason for that lack of faith. We haven't had this much hype since I've been old enough to remember, everybody in the country says lookout for Tennessee to make noise in the SEC, potential dark horse national championship contender...but recruiting is struggling big time.
Georgia is on fire right now with recruits. The Emory Jones committment today really bothered me. I thought he'd wait til NSD.
If you can't recruit with all this hype then wait until all the talent leaves after this year and there is no hype.
Butch must win big this year to prove that he is more than just an average coach.
You thought he would wait until NSD to do what....sign? He will. Is him committing to OSU bad news. Of course. Means there is a better chance he signs with OSU than UT. But at the end of the day, he hasn't signed anything. I have paid attention to recruiting for alot of years now. Things change. Often. Sometimes on a dime. Don't panic until ink is dry.
Of course, I was talking about signing on NSD instead of the committment he just announced. You think I'm that dumb?
You're right! What he says doesn't mean anything but I think we most with any common sense no what today's news means. Are you on the same boat or lost at sea?
5 wins, then 7 wins, then 9 wins. I'm not selling hope. I'm selling proven, clear improvement. Back to back bowl blowouts. My squad is right there. Literally a point away in these games. It's not hope. Its apparent and imo very sellable. The recruiting issue IMO is internal and the way it's being executed.
I don't understand how so many people believe that if we win 10+ games, all of these elite guys that seem to be going elsewhere ATP, will suddenly be knocking down butch's door to commit.
Sure it'll help with some, but it won't just magically give us a top 5 class (like everyone said 17 would be after a mediocre class last year)
