I was hoping you were smart enough to read between the lines. Obviously not every talented player is leaving but enough good ones are. If you want to go on record and say the 2017 will be more hyped than the 2016 team then that is fine with me…

I'm not saying something is wrong, but something is definitely different. Of the answers that are thrown around here, I think the only one that really holds water as a legitimate reason is the lack of drafted players.

But aside from that, something seems different in the process. Is it the fact that ZA isn't the RC anymore? Did Shoop change the recruiting chemistry? I don't know.

I had not realized it but Gibbs hasn't been to Knoxville since around last NSD. That sealed it for me. Obviously today's VQ article saw what I saw.

I was openly concerned that some of the recruiting methods used by the new staff while working early on might come back to bite them down the road. Their lack of focus on instate talent and being fine with other quality programs coming into TN and taking the kids was something I said would not fly with some HS coaches. IMO it's a combination of things and it's not the excuses others are making.

1. Gibbs live close to UGA.
2. Kirby is and always has been a good recruiter.
3. Like it or not, the lawsuit hurt us.
4. Our results have been better but not top 10 level yet.

Warrior/carter are big helps here. Kids don't give a crap about the lawsuit bc it doesn't affect them directly, and they know that now. We beat uga last year straight up. This whole class will shape up way better than anyone is expecting now.. How quickly ppl forget how these things have gone before....

I agree Volnerd- I think the lawsuit even though now settled- hurt more than we could have imagined. Really cast Butch and the program in a negative light. We were in national news for weeks and it had to cause damage, there is really no other logical reason. Shoop and Scott were supposed to be great recruiters...... We will see I guess

I think this'll be the first year he's had SEC level talent across the secondary since he's been at UT, so I'll reserve judgement until I see how this year plays out. Those 3 and 4 man pass rushes Jancek liked to call seemed to have left Martinez's squad hanging out to dry pretty often too.

Just curious if he is still teaching that don't look for the ball, but read the receivers eyes technique? It drove us crazy. Killed by the back shoulder throw. Had he changed his ways?

I know its doom and gloom around here as far as recruiting goes, but we still got awhile before he decides. He still has his official visits, and you can never rule out Butch when it comes to recruiting. It isn't looking good now but we have time to reverse the tide.

Read last night that the plan was for him to go to NSD on a decision but that decision now may come much sooner. Tifwiw. Also said he was supposed to be there today but came early and spent the night last night.

I mean a visit to Knoxville would at least indicate a little interest still. Going on 6 months and nothing. It's not like he's in California. It's GA to TN.

Ugh I really hope he puts off his announcement until after the season or at least until we beat GA this season hopefully! But taking all of these visits to GA and gushing about them- OVs info must be off like the Tee info (different case but still) wish warrior would get in his cousins ear!!!

What the F is happening, it used to be just Crunchy Leb and Bruin mainly that was a pain in the azz! Now we have them plus Bleed O 91, Eastside, Vol 30 and i'm sure i'm forgetting someone that just ruins the discussions.

It used to take a while to read all the posts because I was truly interested in reading what everyone thought but now with all these guys on ignore I only get to read 4 or 5 posts a page.

I am thinking that between the lawsuit (that yes now is over) and the comments from Larry (iirc) that Butch wanted to get to NFL, has scared people off. Maybe the lawsuit is made Butch want to go to NFL quicker. I am at the point something is going on here.

Yeah, Gibbs is the #1 player in the state of GA and UGA's new HC is a pretty good recruiter. It's really that simple.


Why does there have to be a conspiracy?
