'24 GA ATH Kamron Mikell (Colorado commit)

What did we offer him in NIL compensation?
Exactly. I doubt CU is able to offer more in the way of NIL. I think it was the playing two ways that intrigued him. It won't do anything for him long term. He is a great athlete, but being a baller at one position takes focus and effort. Trying to be great at two positions requires a much more generational talent than this young man. Good luck to him though. Maybe he proves me wrong.

Mikell is the type of player who Deion appeals to .... but he isn't recruiting anything on the offensive line. I mean, literally nothing.

One thing about Deion's press coverage that bothers me .... He didn't get the heat that most coaches would for blowing a 29 point halftime lead at home to a team as bad as Stanford. That was when the hype died, but he deserved some criticism. He mostly got a pass.

Honestly, I'm kinda glad he's at Colorado if he wouldn't consider being a DB. By his own admission, he was raw as a receiver. He likely would need a year or two but by then, we'd hopefully have a few difference makers at that spot anyway. If we have to "develop", I'd want that scholarship for a lineman. He might blow up with Prime, but I'm not sweating this one. We have bigger needs....and a lot of them.

It’s wild to me that coach pride can throw his whole team under the bus, bring in a complete new team, then throw the new team under the bus when things don’t go right, yet recruits still want to play for a coach like that? One of the most selfish and egotistical players I’ve ever seen and he is exactly the same as a coach. Idk, maybe I’m different but that type of personality makes me want to vomit and I avoid those people at all costs.

With that said, I don’t get too bogged down when we miss on specific recruits. I think recruiting is going really well considering how far in the hole we were.

And even Deion was merely functional on the offensive side in the one season he played both.

If you look at the class, it's not full of kids. The class only has 11 commits. His best recruit was a guy that wasn't worth the both sides of the ball promise by UGA or Tennessee. Let's see how he closes it up first.

Remember we don’t “overpay for recruits” here. So it’s completely feasible to assume we lost our yet again because of poor NIL.
Not overpaying doesnt mean our NIL is poor.

If we think he is only worth 100k but he wants 500k we would have to be idiots to pay that. Doesnt matter if we have a million in the bank.

Overpaying like that resets our whole value system and screws us in the long run.

Lulz remembering the convo in here when his Colorado visit was scheduled. Whatever though. Go get another player.

I dunno know about that. I think great players appreciate the cut throat nature. I’ve seen phenomenally successful coaches in other sports too that coached successful teams straight up tell their captain and best player if they didn’t shape up they would go and get players who would and those players responded well and improved.

I would honestly welcome this tough kind of environment. Personally I think it builds true long term champions.
