I think he's a little better than that, I agree that he may be a "Ra ra" coach but that seems to work when you're constantly the underdog (like Vandy usually is), and you're probably right about him at Penn St. I was just referring to his time with Vandy and having them actually winning 9 games a year at one point. They may never have any type of consistent success like that again or at least not in the near future

The band guy would never sniff a bowl at Vandy.

Franklin is a douche canoe but he's a substantially better football coach than the car salesman.

i think as far as PSU fans are concerned, that Rose bowl a copule years ago might as well have been a decade ago. the shine has worn off ol Jimmie Frank. he's better than Butch.

but that's a low bar. at this point, all they see is a guy that shrinks in the biggest moments and then complains and whines about it afterward.

so, not that i'm disagreeing with you. just that being a douche canoe probably makes up whatever ground there is between the two in terms of "coaching accumen"....lol.

Yeah he's not ever gonna be confused with Joe P from the coaching standpoint. But the trumpet blower couldn't tote his case to the game.

Butch did have a little bit of success with his recruits. Franklin won with Johnson’s players. Parlayed that to a position a penn state. Has underperformed after his players have gotten there.

Plus, he is a total dick.

Anybody every try to whip Jones? I don't see how someone didn't end up rearranging his face for a lot of the bull butter he pulled up there. Punching a player, grabbing another's throat, etc.

Not that I ever heard. I know some people not on the roster that wanted to.

I envision him as the fetal position and assault whistle type.

I mean it isn't like he's some intimidating guy or something. He's small and weak. He has to be a brave cat to do that to some of these players and not expect to get mopped up.

Nobody is debating Franklin being a jackass. But the flute guy doesn't make a bowl game at Vandy much less win 9 twice. I don't care who's players either coach.

Butch Jones wouldn't sniff a bowl at Vanderbilt. The guy is well below average at this level from a schematic/developing players standpoint.

I think Pruitt is facing a markedly tougher East though than Butch ever did. Florida and Georgia are legit. Tough row to hoe. The east will be VERY competitive in a few years.

South Carolina may have peaked last year and Kentucky will definitely cycle down next year. I doubt Missouri flourishes as long as Dooley is there and they lose Locke, anyway. Vandy is Vandy. I do agree that Georgia is very legit and Florida is likely to be.

He was pretty well versed in manipulating situations. Im gonna guess he had previous experiences.

I have a much stronger dislike for Jones than I ever did for Dooley. I think the guy is completely fake to say the least. Would pay good money to see someone break a chair over his head.
