@bignewt has been here for a lot longer than you. He’s not always doom and gloom. Check out the football talk thread...he’s extremely positive about wanting Briles as the OC, and has wanted him since Helton left. Newt just says what’s on his mind and calls things like he sees it.

VQ podcast also discussed the issue of what position OP plays in college. Says right now he is dead set on playing LB, and Auburn has supposedly promised him that, whereas Pruitt may see him as more of a Star/LB hybrid and is being honest with him about that. They seemed to question whether OP really does have the size to be a full time SEC LB.

Wtf? All i say is dont attack the messenger as any and all recruiting news is shaky at best due to the nature of these being 17-18 year old kids and im told to go back to the FF. Lol

Burn is telling him whatever to get him to sign... if ut, bama, uga, and whoever else is questioning his size, that should tell OP that he may need to rethink playing position.

Like several have alluded to for a while....For the Roquan Smith and size argument, OPs frame does not look destined to add 30 lbs like Roquan was able to do. OP also does not play nearly as physical at the point of attack and gets washed out a lot at the high school level. @secking has alluded to this himself in a nice way not to rile up the masses.

The same people making the next Ro Smith argument on here will the ones calling him a bust when he doesn’t contribute at LB the first year.

Said it before, but would much rather close with Marshall or To’o to’o when factoring in LBs. The optics on Pappoe would be a great for recruiting and he would be a luxury in sub packages so I still really hope we flip him.

Nothing wrong with being a hybrid Star/Lb. That's actually really valuable the way this game is headed

My guess why Price and Simonton left the door ajar is for the ole click bait rodeo. I don't blame Pappoe if he wants to be LB and Tennessee would rather he be moving around. Once you can't find a home you quickly become an endangered species. His star rating takes a hit because suddenly the Rivals of the world begins to wonder exactly which position he projects at. I'm sure he wants to be a solid LB rather than a wandering star.

Ding ding ding! Someone, like his HS coach, needs to be in his ear about the value he could bring to that position, and mention those in the league making bank doing it. Auburn is being snake oil salesmen right now, because they are desperate to keep him. Our coaches are telling him the truth, and is why Osovet tweeted what he did when Pappoe reaffirmed his commitment. Guarantee if he goes to Auburn, he ends up playing that position when it’s all said and done. Gus is pulling Butch moves and making promises that he doesn’t plan to keep.

The door is ajar because the only reason Owen is an Auburn commit is the linebackers coach and his momma likes them. It’s clear we have got his attention.

When Pappoe was a freshman, one could argue he would be making a case he would end up the #1 player in this class. His numbers would blow you away especially if he continued on the same path. What changed? It isn’t what changed, it’s what didn’t. His body stopped growing, he is still the same height today as he was a freshman and others caught him or passed him as their bodies caught up. I’ve seen some say put weight on him when he gets to college. That will be hard to do, he is stacked right now. He has the body of a body builder and has already added the weight room mass you can add. Be difficult to add 15 lbs of good weight, weight sure, but he’s as physically fit as you can get and you don’t want to lose that.

And that’s the other thing his coach and connections need to reiterate to him. Show him the new contract that Gus signed, which basically makes him a dead man walking next year. They have made his contract so that he won’t succeed and then can be fired for a smaller buyout. My word why are kids and their parents so blind. If we were in Auburn’s shoes, we would do good to sign a top 30 class and definitely wouldn’t be able to sign an OP caliber player.

The kid wants to be penciled in as a LB. He's listening to what he wants to hear. If Aubby is telling him what he wants to hear then he is all ears. The kid has to know the coaching situation but yet he is listening.

Would look good if we flipped him back but I would rather have Marshall as a actual LB not a star. Again, still want him but not the end of the world thing.

This is what I've picked up from reading here over the last few years.. Not to run him down. He is an E-LITE athlete for sure.. I mean highest SPARQ score, ever... He WILL make a lot of money in the league just the way he is physically. I just hope he gets and listens to good advice/coaching. I feel like he would get that under Pruitt. The barn, I'm not so sure..
