Owen Pappoe, Auburn’s 5-star linebacker commit from Grayson (Ga.), took three official visits this spring, leaving him with two remaining. One will go to Auburn. The other will go to a program in the SEC east. But it won’t be Georgia.
Instead, Pappoe, the No. 10 overall recruit nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite, said Wednesday that Tennessee will get his final official. That visit is scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 22.
“I’ll be there later this month for the Florida game,” Pappoe said. Asked if Tennessee was pushing for him, Pappoe replied, “They are.” He added, “They’re telling me I could come in and play as a freshman — that they need my help.”
In the spring, Pappoe officially visited LSU, Penn State and Texas. Then, he committed to Auburn on May 1 over Georgia. At the time, Pappoe said the Bulldogs might still get an official. Nebraska also has battled for one. But it will be Tennessee, which has his 5-star teammate — offensive tackle
Wanya Morris — committed, that will get the fifth official.
