'24 GA DL Jeremias Heard (Tennessee commit)

New info has him pegged for LT.
You had concerns about Okoye. Okoye has only been around football for less than a year and only played 3 games over in the UK. This is the one I would have concerns about if he's moved to OT. He only started playing football last summer and has never taken a snap as an offensive lineman. Maybe his high school coaches will play him there this season. It's not impossible, but with the late start, he'd be here 3 seasons before sniffing the field on offense.

He's got this year as well. So yeah about his RSSo year is when I expect him to play (3 years from now)
kind of like Brian Grant.

That's not necessarily a terrible thing. Redshirt, rFR, rSO....then two solid years of play at a position of need. Not a bad return if that's what happens for a kid with such a late start at the sport if he can become a solid starter by then.

I was talking about 3 years on campus, unless he plays OT for his high school team this year. That means it would be his RS junior year before possibly competing for a starting spot. At DT/SDE he could possibly be in the rotation and see snaps as a RS freshman.

And your denial isn't my problem.

There's enough of you damn coach worshipers running around here.

We always have them. Even had them with Butch and Pruitt.
It's annoying...
And your complaints are not our problem. We truly don't care what annoys you. So what if someone wants to trust in our coach? Who are you to say it's right or wrong. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you're correct.

I knew what you meant. I was just playing off the 3 years without openly disagreeing with you.

Does ANYONE have FOOTBALL film of this kid????

I haven't been able to find any. That's why I question the OT possibility. You can develop a great athlete on the DL much easier than the offensive line.

It’s football, not rocket science. Great athletes don’t need 3 years before playing on either side of the ball in my experience.
It's SEC football and great athletes that have been playing their whole lives can have trouble seeing playing time. We have people complaining about 3 and 4 star players that already play on the OL not being good enough to win championships if they commit to us, but you seem to think someone who has never played a down on the offensive line and has only played one year of football shouldn't have any issues. Tell me how many times you've seen this happen "in your experience". Defensive line play can be a lot of "see ball, get ball" for great athletes. Offensive line play doesn't quite work that way.

They have to be developed physically. They have to develop technique. They have to learn the playbook and how to read the D front to an almost perfect degree. When OLs fail, it is usually because they cannot progress at one of those things more than the others.

We obviously have a different definition of “great athlete”. Most all these SEC players are good athletes. I consider a great athlete to stand out above the crowd in the SEC and to have a distinct physical advantage over the competition. It doesn’t take guys like that 3 years to be effective IMO.

There has been lots of great athletes that didn't translate into great football players because there is so much more to it than being physically dominant at the collegiate level. Especially when the goal is to bring in special athletes in every class.

Was he just not evaluated before?

I'm not complaining in this instance, but it is kind of questionable to bump so significantly a kid who hasn't received any other offers, or camped, or played any new games.

But hey, I'll take it.

so I am guessing no one is going to complain about the recruiting services making a change to a recruits ranking when there is no football going on?

He crushed the month of June

Got into a good lifting and eating routine, studied ahead for his senior year, got to bed on time and stayed out of trouble

Rank change well deserved

Maybe someone finally saw some film and that’s the reason? That’s not nearly as annoying as dropping/raising a kid with 3 years of game tape and 2 years of camp evaluation in the middle of July.
