'25 GA EDGE Isaiah Gibson (uga commit)

So, to summarize:
1) Experts picking uga
2) IG verbally agreed to Spyre deal
3) We’re back whether he goes here or not
4) He might go to Georgia Tech with his buddies.
5) Everybody thinks they are an insider.
6) Don’t trust anyone who thinks they’re an insider.
7) If he chooses us, it’s about academics, development, and family. If he chooses anywhere else, we came in a close second bc we wouldn’t cheat like the school he chooses.

Any questions?

Wonder why he didn’t just commit to UGA in the first place? Was Kirby not really recruiting him? All of this seems strange. While he more than likely ends up at UGA, why did it take so long for UGA to offer him a good NIL deal?

I mean it’s not like this is done diamondbacks be in the rough type of player. This is a big time recruit that has an elite offer list. One would have thought Kirby would have been all over him from the get go.

You forgot staff can’t close.

Sounds about right. Especially #7. If he chooses UGA, well Kirby cheated and lied to him. At least that what some will say.

If he has wanted UGA the entire time then it’s good business moves by him to not commit early.

And UGA prob tried to get him for a lower price. That’s good business moves by them.

He’s verbally agreed to terms on nil deal with Tennessee but circled back to Georgia. I don’t think either team can feel 100% confident but if you’re looking for the “safe” bet then Georgia probably is the bet. Metal, Eric and Peabody probably aren’t off that a deal had been agreed to but verbal don’t mean crap these days. If we miss we still have some really good options.

Cause USC is paying big time recruits to commit early with very little teeth in their deals to stay committed. So these guys go commit there for the quick buck and then go shop the real NIL deals with the likes of UT, OSU, UGA.

What does ‘verbally agreed’ mean though? Is it ‘that’s a great deal and I’ll take it if I come to UT’ or ‘I am committing to UT with this deal in place’?

Also, seems like high school kids need a little protection in these deals. If I was Spyre, I’d encourage some outside legal representation in conversations with these kids for the kids’ best interest.

You’ve never seen what “outside representation” looks like in some of these cases. Outside representation is what has Baron on his fourth team from a year ago.

Our insiders brought good info and you wanted to make a smart a$$ remark about it.

If you don’t believe them, whatever but don’t try to belittle everyone into thinking they don’t know anything.

They don't know anything other than what they've read elsewhere. "Our insiders" 😆

I don't have to belittle anyone. They eventually out themselves. Just like today

I’m going to just say a few people have access to information before anyone else does. Nothing is 100% even AP misses. I think white has done pretty well tightening up the AD as far as info sneaking out unless they want it to. Spyre still has some info sneak out. Even when we don’t get someone that’s supposedly in the boat it forces other teams to lay out more of their budget.

That’s a good point. There should be an arbitrator that has no connection to the school or the kid involved. Not an advice-giver, but someone making sure everything is fair and the kid’s rights are protected. Most of these guys are still minors.

NCAA was too busy trying to “protect student athletes” to actually worry about protecting student athletes.

I mean pro players still make crap decisions on representation sometimes. You can’t protect a bad decision maker from bad decisions especially when money is involved. I’m done though on this one; we don’t want to steer too far off the topic here and turn this into another glorified nil thread.

If he looks at GA tech’s facilities and attends a game there, he’ll quickly understand these schools are far far from equal
They are if those things aren't his top priorities. His recruitment is wide open, he could go anywhere.

And there it is
Now that I've gotten through the work week and have polished off anywhere from two to fifteen Miller Lites, I just wanted to back off of my earlier comment. Mostly because it reeks of negavol and the last thing this board needs is another idiot making it smell like b*tch in here. I didn't even know who this guy was 2 weeks ago, and yet i let the idea of him going somewhere else affect me enough to basically comment: "see I told you so. We don't land these guys". What kind of BS is that? Screw that. I hope this kid comes here, but if he doesn't, there's still over a dozen guys who are being molded into the best version of themselves by one of the best DL coaches of all time. Let's hope this guy will be one of them
