'25 GA EDGE Isaiah Gibson (uga commit)

Now that I've gotten through the work week and have polished off anywhere from two to fifteen Miller Lites, I just wanted to back off of my earlier comment. Mostly because it reeks of negavol and the last thing this board needs is another idiot making it smell like b*tch in here. I didn't even know who this guy was 2 weeks ago, and yet i let the idea of him going somewhere else affect me enough to basically comment: "see I told you so. We don't land these guys". What kind of BS is that? Screw that. I hope this kid comes here, but if he doesn't, there's still over a dozen guys who are being molded into the best version of themselves by one of the best DL coaches of all time. Let's hope this guy will be one of them
Welcome to the positive Polly side!

Anywhere from 2-15 🤣

Maybe Vandy
He definitely has the grades if that's what he wants to do. I would love to see him at Tennessee. I try to stay away from an opinion because im biased. I remember when Quez Calloway came out. He played at the same high school as Gibson. My little brother played with him and they were pretty close. When he told us he was going to commit to Tennessee we were so hyped and genuinely happy for him. Watching him grow from a youth player to an NFL player was special. But I never coached Calloway. IG is a different story. I can remember teaching him his stance as a 5'8 135lb 7yr old lol.

You never stated you can get to the NFL from a lot of different places. You did say they all want to go to the NFL and that Tech sends kids to the NFL:

"The goal is still the NFL for all these kids and they all want to get to the field as soon as possible. GA Tech is 1 hr and 30mins away, offer immediate PT, they already have guys that he has played with, and they do send guys to the NFL." -901 Orange

My point was it's a terrible decision to go to Ga Tech if you truly have NFL aspirations. Coaching, development, and competition are much higher at UT. That's the hard work that gets you to the NFL.
Crazy how life works but AJ Hill who played QB for me just did exactly what I was trying to explain. He picked Memphis over Fla. He stated that he felt like he could play early there and he could change the program. He is the highest rated QB to ever commit to Memphis. He is likely to be a 3yr starter there. If he does the things he needs to do he'll get to the NFL in 3yrs.

Not thrilled that it seems to be coming down to money. I don’t mind paying when it’s worth it, as I think it is here, but he clearly is fishing for UGA to pay out more and I can’t help but wonder if he’ll end up transferring out of here eventually anyway.

If UGA pays more and he goes there, what can we do? Let them overspend their money, and cause locker room discontent. We will get the players that we need.

It’s sort of a win / win situation now unless he chooses HA for less NIL. Otherwise, he comes to UT or GA overpays to get him.

Interesting. So we shall see if our NIL did its job.
i think that's a terrible take.

i think it already has. i think this kid has always kinda wanted to go to UGA, but if TN (or anyone else for that matter) was able to offer as much as is apparently been offered, then it has to be considered.

if UGA gets "in the ball park", that may all it takes to sway him. we've been on the good end of that type of deal already in this class where we weren't the highest, but we were close enough, and we had enough of everything else to close.

if anything, what this says is that we're hunting the same grounds with the same equipment, and are putting ourselves in position to win some of these. but our track record with NIL has always been not getting in to "highest bidder" recruitments.

i think in the end this comes down to UGA and TN being pretty much equal players, assuming UGA's NIL has come up with more, and he has to decide which one is best for him.

at the end of the day....if we keep doing that against the likes of UGA, OSU, etc.....we'll get ours too.

to me, the take away here is we're making schools like UGA and OSU work a lot harder, and it's not ALWAYS just taking the pick of the litter, at will anymore.

There is absolutely no scenario where UGA is paying more. The question is does he take pretty significantly less to go there?

Think Chaz Lanier and basketball recently.

I see it no different than comparing job offers.

Do you all get a sense of other team’s nil compensation for a player, for instance, IG’s recruitment against uga?

Except I would not use the term “significantly less” in regards to Chaz Lanier and his NIL contract it wasn’t his highest offer but it was competitive

I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprised if he transferred out in a year or two if he just came here for the better money out of high school.
I mean after 2 years his replacement will already be on the team. In 2 years, either he's a stud, or he's looking for a fresh start. If he's a stud, I doubt that he goes anywhere because he will be draft eligible the next year.
