Arkansas had a Butkus award finalist last season and while Clark Lee was the lb coach at Notre Dame he had 2 different Butkus award winners IIRC. I’d say a lb those 2 schools want likely has some talent. We haven’t had a Butkus award finalist since Ranoch Thompson in 1999 for what it’s worth.

This coaches know how to identify talent. Yes the best miss now and then, but we aren’t taking a commit if we don’t think he can’t make a impact at some point. The coaches don’t care about what another school is doing when taking commits or whether some service has him a 3-4 or 5 star. They go by what they have them rated. This staff isn’t Butch Jones, they trust themselves more than the scouting hype. Doesn’t mean they don’t want the best, they trust their abilities to identify players. GBO!

Tha Arkansas Butkus award finalist was a former 5 star Alabama player. And I don’t even need to point out what a reach it was for you to reference Notre dame kids as a way to credit Vanderbilt.

We actually don’t live there anymore. My wife and I did live in Hattiesburg for about 8 years and I went to grad school there. But we are back in Middle Tennessee now. Smith County. Got two little girls that needed to be around family.
