Sam Pittman seems to be the only thing standing in the way of us having an excellent oline. I like Will Friend, but we could have a two deep high 4*-5* OL across the board if he was here. I am so sick of seeing his name.Really likes Pittman. I still think this goes down to the wire if we play well this year.
It has to be coaching? Why? You can't make chicken salad out of chicken crap...well you can, but its gonna taste like crap. The OL sucking so bad had nothing to do with Friends ability as a coach, it had everything to do with the bad recruiting, entrenced soft laziness in the room, and injuries in some cases. I knew it would take years to fix that mess.I'm not saying they have to be elite. But last year was the worst offensive line I have ever seen. I'm not the only one who has said that. The guy who called our spring game was a former OL and he went on the Swain show and said the same thing. Not only did guys get dominated up front failing to make a push, but they completely whiffed on assignments all season long leading to JG taking direct hits over and over again.
I'm not saying they have to be elite this year. But if they aren't better than last year, then we have a real problem. And it has to be coaching being this is the second year here.

I think our won-lost record has more weight on the quality of recruits, especially Olinemen. Except for T Smith, we recruited "projects " more often thna trying to recruit the best. We are stiill waithing for these guys to develop and that was made more difficult by some previous coaches letting players "skip" workouts in the weight room. Those days are behind us but we are still seeing the adverse outcomes of those practices. Bear Brynat learned a long time age that big fast-strong players win more games thannot so big fast-strong players. We will soon be playing with fast-strong football players.,Sam Pittman seems to be the only thing standing in the way of us having an excellent oline.
