The Georgia Bulldogs picked up some more good news in the 2020 class on Monday morning. One of the top players in the country
Tate Ratledge of Darlington High School (Rome, Georgia) picked the Bulldogs over Tennessee in the final two teams. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Ratledge committed live on Fox5 Atlanta and there was a certain feeling about Georgia that helped them land the All-American OL.
“It is really where I felt the most comfortable,” Ratledge said. “It was where I thought I could get to where I want to be one day with Coach (Sam) Pittman and everyone else there.”
Coach
Sam Pittman continues to prove his one of the best, if not the best recruiters in the country. Ratledge says there is something different about him.
“He is a lot more personable, he would rather get to know you than just talk about football all the time, and I thought that was special,” he said.
Georgia was the team behind the scenes for a while, but Ratledge took a look at another SEC school before it was all over with.
“I have kind of felt since January really it was Georgia, then I went to Tennessee twice in a row back to back and I was still feeling Georgia, so I knew then it was where I wanted to go,” he said.
Sam Pittman had to take a seat literally when Ratledge gave him the news that he was coming to Georgia.
“He told I had to let him sit down before I told him that and then he asked me if I could repeat what I just said, he was excited,” he said.
Kirby Smart wants Ratledge to get started being a recruiter for the 2020 class as soon as possible.
“He wants me to get some other people on board now that I am public, so does Coach Pittman, I am just very relieved this part is over with and I have my school now,” he said.
