'20 GA OL Tate Ratledge (UGA commit)

To be fair I did have to read it twice before knowing what you meant.

I get that. But thought the follow up cleared it up so since it didn’t, wanted it to get clearer. Had no inside info but knew it was Georgia and was responding to post about how he could screw his dad like that so thought putting 2 and 2 together wasn’t too difficult. Guess I was wrong. Should’ve known KB has been off so much that he would jump the wrong way on that one.

Pruitt and Friend landed Morris and Wright last year. Kirby and Pittman got Ratledge this year.

Vols - 2
Dawgs - 1
Just curious, how does Morris fit in that metric? Is it just because he had an offer? Pretty well known that UGA never recruited him that hard and what's also known is the why and it has a lot to do with why they also didn't land Owen Pappoe. If it's just based on offers, well theres a lot more than three recruits we could start adding the score up with.

Well Morris didn't want to go to Georgia and Wright didn't want to be to far from home so... I'm not sure your logic works here.
It was mutual with Morris .. The Grayson connection isn't there for UGA and with Kenyatta Watson being a big influence on a lot of those kids, none of them went to UGA because he and Kirby kinda don't get along but let's leave it at that.

I would be so pissed if I were his dad. How are all these “Vol fan” families letting their kids go to rival teams?! Very discouraging.

Still believe Pruitt will turn it around in Knoxville but man, right now it’s painful.

Will be nice to see what kind of class this coaching staff will turn out once we get out from behind the 8 ball.

Agreed. I’m no really worried about this class. Pruitt and co will get this roster turned around. Just sucks to see the lack of loyalty from supposed Vol families. If you don’t wanna play here, go out of conference...or at least not to a hated rival. Wtf.

why pissed? In the grand scheme of things, it's a game that affords the opportunity for kids to go to college. It's not like he's going off to prison or robbing people.

Do you think the Vol Fan families should disown their kids for choosing to play football at another school?

I hope that Kenyatta Watson Sr leaving Grayson doesn't open up the door for UGA there.

If a 5 star OL from TN chose UGA and he "didn't want to go to UT" would that matter to UT fans? No, it wouldn't. So why does it matter when talking about Morris and UGA? The fact is the kid didn't want to go there and Pittman couldn't change his mind. A 5 star instate kid chose elsewhere, anyway you slice it that's a loss for UGA.

And Pittman and UGA tried VERY HARD to get Wright to visit, if you remember many UGA fans were claiming he was going to be a dawg towards the end of the fall. But Pruitt, Friend, Nieds, and friends convinced him to not visit and he choose UT instead.

For the life of me I don't understand how some of our fans have such a hard time giving our coaches credit for situations like that but have no trouble whatsoever giving a rival the credit.

UGA and Pittman couldn't convince Morris and Wright to be dawgs. They lost those battles. Just like UT staff lost the Ratledge battle. Pretty simple, really.

Pissed was probably the wrong word. Just frustrated. I can’t imagine the excitement of having a son get recruited to Tennessee...only to have them go to Georgia. I certainly am not calling for disowning then lol. I DO think Vol Fan families should raise their kids to hate our rivals...

Understood....I am sure he talked it over with his dad and they determined that the best way for him to get drafted was to work with Pittman. However we all know that that logic is flawed. If you have talent, you have talent. You will get noticed.

He has been gone

I haven't seen much traction with UGA and Grayson since the new year, so hopefully no news is good news. I've only heard bits and pieces about the backstory with UGA and Grayson, and my understanding was that while much of it had to do with Watson Sr. trying to secure a quid pro quo arrangement with college programs who wanted access to Grayson recruits. With that being said, my friends and associates who are tied into UGA tell me that the issue with the UGA-Grayson relationship is much more complex than just pointing to Watson Sr.

Nail on the head there man .. and it has been like that for quite a while

I think the real frustration is that the Butch Oline recruits that are Juniors and Seniors have not turned out yet. Friend is supposed to be this top tier Oline coach, but did we see improvement last year? (I would include Fitz in this case as well.) It was minimal if even noticeable. To be fair I would have said the same about Pittman's one year here as we could not run block against the big boys in the conference with a line full of guys that went pro. I think we will see a staff change on the Oline at the end of the year, if improvement isn't made sooner than later in that aspect, and possibly strength and conditioning as well.

UGA’s staff are like used car salesman. I mean it works on impressionable 16-18 year olds, but still doesn’t make it any less cringey.
Completely agree I do feel like Pruitt and co are more honest and businessman like with the kids and it hurts us with some of them.
