'20 GA QB Harrison Bailey (UT SIGNEE)

It’s an extreme oddity for a football player to reclassify, there is nothing suggesting that, except s wild idea from a poster here, who says he has no idea.

Let’s stay rooted in logic here

It happened with Jacob Bentley at SC and (as mentioned) JT Daniels at USC. Before Eric Zeier did the graduate early and EE thing at UGA that was an “extreme oddity”...now it’s ODD when a potential face of the program QB doesn’t go that route. Commonplace for basketball recruits (possibly DJ Burns for us). Logic says odd becomes normal the more it’s done.

Living on grad transfers isn't going to build the program.

Nope. Treading water at best

Who said Pruitt is taking a grad transfer QB in '19 class?

He took Shrout and Chryst in '18. Sounds like we're taking another HS QB or a JUCO in '19 and are in a good spot with an elite HS QB in '20 class. What's the issue?

Not buying it here

Who said we were? Im only suggesting a grad transfer to bridge the gap till bailey can get on campus. Is this honestly a hard concept for you all to understand. Bailey could very well be our future and not every qb is like trever l. and is ok going to a school that just signed a 5 star qb the year before. We are not in a position to risk pushing him away. Take a grad transfer and you wont have to worry about the playing time aspect.

I don’t think we are, another poster suggested it. Chavis and I are saying that’s not the way to go

I was simply responding to his post. Calm down, no need to get all coach defendy yet.

Not to mention I would much rather have a grad transfer as depth than a true freshman. If injuries plague our QBs again I would rather have someone with experience and that has played at the college level than a 3* guy just getting his feet wet. Sure you miss out on the potential of finding a diamond in the rough, but depth-wise a grad transfer is a known commodity and safer bet.

Thank you for thinking logically.

yeah, and i think we've done both in the 18 cycle with getting Chryst and Shrout. you have your short term depth issue resolved, and you've got some long term depth with a freshman you can RS.

you still have 2 years left on JG, and we're in on a QB of the future in the next cycle..

and we'll get a qb in this cycle too, probably a pretty good one to boot.

while it's hard to predict the future, i think from a planning standpoint, they have a good in place, and i find myself not really all that concerned about the QB spot. and i won't be until there's a reason to be.

What qb are we taking this year because so far everyone we have been high on has either shown very little interest in us or we have suddenly slow played them.

Even if we get this kid in the fold early, I bet they sign someone this year.

Too many variables not to.

dunno. there's several we're in on. i don't think anyone on our staff is in panic mode on qb though. and for good reason. this isn't the best/deepest class of QB's. and this staff knows that the more important thing is to make sure we're getting better on the LOS, and at some of the other skill positions.

i think most of the ones we're recruiting are committed elsewhere...KS, Wake, Bama.....but we're going to get 1. and that's probably all we need this cycle, so they can be somewhat choosy, and use most of the resources elsewhere. which is what we need to do. DB, OL, DL, LB, WR, RB....we get the kind of players we are going after elsewhere, it may not matter who the qb is.:eek:lol:

A lot of unknown variables at this point with the main question being who this yea'rs starter will be. A lot are saying if Chryst is the starter JG will leave. If that's the case then we need 2 QB's in this class for sure. My guess would be a HS/JC guy and a grad transfer as well. Obviously none of this effects the '20 QB class and Bailey being the guy.

Absolutely.

Agreed. I’m not very worried about QB going forward and would be happy with either a grad transfer or a true freshman in this next cycle. It all really depends on how our needs at the position look towards the end of the season and who best fills those needs.
