'20 GA QB Harrison Bailey (UT SIGNEE)

It’s the players that they grade elite UNTIL they commit to us that causes the blowback...perfectly calm.

But is it 'us', or some other reason they decided they didn't like the recruit? If this is really systemic because of UT, that should be very easy to prove. Stats don't lie...wait, actually they do...but still, it should be pretty clear in the ranking history. With regard to HB, the services starting getting chubbies over him when he was quite young (ok...that didn't sound good) and then as they saw him more, some cooled and some didn't. That doesn't sound like a "we hate UT" thing.

And for the record, I'm ambivalent over the services. I think they do ok, but I trust coaches more. Services are businesses, and vendettas are bad for business, but they also have people, and people can be dumb.

I respect your take whilst simultaneously disregarding it. He picks Michigan and he’s top 20.

I really don't have a 'take' per se, it may be exactly what you claim. I'm just not personally willing to claim bias without something more objective than VN's insistence that "XYZ hates us". Where's Chatt and his SpreadFu when you need it?

Not here to change anyone else’s core beliefs...just expressing mine.

Wait till he actually plays wr?
Might be a little late to update in college haha. Though I've also read he projects well as a DB. Wonder if that part of film from last year boosted him too. Kid reminds me of JJ, who maybe could have played QB at a few smaller places, but could get paid as a DB or WR and could beast on STs.

Wait and see how he plays in actual football games, I guess.
In HS? I think he will stick to QB and DB and STs as far as I can tell. Reminds me of the way services were getting Jennings to camp playing DB and WR. They wanted to get a feel for his non-qb talents and he ended ranked quite high.

Then don't project him as the 28th best player without even seeing how he performs at the position he is likely going to play after HS.

When people jump you, it's still a drop.
"Drop" being defined as re-evaluated lower, it's not. Have you never loved 5 restaurants, put a new one at #1, without ever revisiting or changing your love for your original top 5?

I think we are just having a simple conceptual disagreement. Is his actual number lower due to being jumped? Yes. Was he evaluated as being less of a player? No. The 2 are different. Let's not waste time debating semantics.

And yet, here you are. All right, I will drop it. Get it? Drop it :)

Hence why coaches want kids to come camp.

This irony is lost on many folks. We respect coaches wanting to see kids in person but roll eyes when scouts want to? Makes sense. I think it makes good sense for any and all people evaluating human athleticism to want to see them in person. Film be grainy dude.

Coaches don't charge and know football.

My time...your waste.

Honestly, if a recruiting service wants to be taken seriously they shouldn’t even touch the rankings until after the football season. They should leave the rankings alone during the spring and summer while taking note of camp standouts and combine that with on field play at seasons end. The current system is simply a joke and doesn’t make any actual sense
