'20 GA RB/CB Ebony Jackson

It amazes me how many people come unglued when a high 3 star commits.

Did you guys think we would only take 5 and 4 stars this cycle? I think he will end up a low 4 star and then people will be ok with it.

It’s because he only has 3 stars next to his recruiting profiles and for some reason these people around here think they know more than the guys getting paid millions to do this for a living. Never ceases to amaze me. Smh
They will also be the ones losing sleep fearing we lose him when signing day is coming up. Great pickup.

I read that he announced his decision while the team was out at practice......meaning CJP learned about it post facto. So, it's possible that Jackson pulled the trigger on Twitter without the nod from the key staff. It would be interesting to know that little factoid. Jackson may be an okay player, but his commitment now could hurt us with other, more highly regarded, prospects.

Speed is always good, but I think the majority of folks are tired of the 3*hype on here and the "if coach (insert any name from past decade) likes him, then hes good enough for me" speech. We need 5* talent to compete with Ga, Bama and the likes. Devrin Young ran a 4.4, but didn't do much for us under Chaney. Hope I'm wrong, but id like to see higher rated guys committing to us

If it wasn’t applauded by the coaching staff then Nieds wouldn’t have Tweeted what he did.

The Athletic did an article about the Tennessee staff using a service that takes Track & Field results and measurements and provides a "rating" for recruits.

This commit seems to fall in line with that approach.

Also, I prefer when the staff takes "reaches" like this early in the recruiting year. Maybe they turn into Roman Harrison. Maybe they turn into Jalil Clemons. We'll see once the Senior film comes out.

Where are all the posters coming “unhinged?” Outside of obvious troll Tad, of course.

JFC people were allowed to trust the staff but still not rave over ever kid that commits. Not everyone is a sleeper diamond in the rough under rated super star.

Doesn't seem all that special to me. Hope he has a breakout season, but for me he would not be a take based on the highlight film I watched.

VERY excited about this kid. People complaining about his Hudl tape don't fully realize what they are seeing.
1. This kid has elite 5 star measurables....as good a combo of size/speed as you will find.
2. His running style may not make for a flashy highlight video but his running style translates immediately to college. He hits holes with good vision, no dancing/juking.
3. He is the mold we want. Runs like a Bama/UGA back. Gets past the first level and gets chunks of yardage with a chance to break a long run if he gets any down field blocking.
4. His film is of him going against good competition that is scheming to limit him and is still having success. He has balance, vision, doesn't go down at first contact and has elite top end speed.

I would like to see slightly quicker acceleration but that can be helping by S&C and coaching. He has all of the tools needed and a frame to take hits and wear out defenders. No doubt in my mind he was at the top of our board.

The questions weren't about this kids actual speed. He is a state champ in Ga in the 100m and 200m. The issue was that it didn't translate on film in games. You can't teach speed. If he develops his short burst speed and explosiveness (which can be developed) he will only get faster and MUCH more dangerous. Rankings services aren't the holy grail. This is the type of player you take a risk on. Big, strong, and fast.

I know this doesn’t seem like a big deal but this kid could be the steal of the class already. He has legit speed... there is a reason why we jumped on him so early... now it will be holding off others... because they WILL come.
You have any info on anyone else possible to commit to us soon?

I haven't seen one person come unglued over his commitment. We were just questioning his actual speed being a 10.5 in the 100. And you of ALL people don't need to lecture on coming unglued, i've seen you post in game day threads.

Something I just thought about.... He was the 5A state champ in the 100m and 200m as a sophomore. I have no idea what his track times look like this spring, but he has a chance to post faster times this year and next if he's not an early enrollee.
