'22 GA RB Justin Williams (Cal)

The guy hadn’t played football since his junior year in HS (when he wasn’t even the starter) yet still managed to run for 350 as third string (in the hardest part of our schedule) and avg 5 ypc. Wright is gonna be fine

Wright had 5 carries vs. UGA. 7 carries vs. Kentucky. 0 carries vs. Alabama.

Nearly 250 of his 350 yards came vs. Vandy, South Alabama and TN Tech.

But don't let facts get in the way of a good point.

This play comes to mind..

The fact that the same play one comes to everyone’s mind when thinking about Jabari is evidence that he hasn’t made as many plays as we need our RBs to make.... don’t think we’ll beat UGA or UA without an elite back and don’t see an elite back on our current roster

Jaylen Wright MAYBE is the only SEC caliber back we have on our roster

And yes. That includes Jabari.

We have no one in our current RB room that can score from anywhere on the field. I think Sampson and Williams change that, but we still need a good transfer RB
That is the most cracked out, stupid take I've ever seen in the history of my being on this board. While I am super excited about what we hopefully have coming in, Jabari Small was clearly option 1b last year, he DEFINITELY is an SEC caliber back, his quickness and change of direction is darn near elite, and he has more than adequate top end speed. His bum shoulder was the only thing that held him back from having a really solid 800-1000 yd campaign this year. Jaylen Wright has the physical attributes but he lacks vision and is very timid when hitting the holes, definitely not better than Jabari

Definitely agree here. JW is the fastest back we have. Runs a legit 4.3, you just can't teach that. With more muscle on his frame he can really help us out.
Idc what he runs on the track or on turf without pads, JW is not a 4.3 guy when the pads and lights are on, that was clear on just about every play he had from scrimmage this year

Vision is the most underrated of all RB skills. So many big holes on cutbacks are missed due to poor vision.

He never broke free….. you won’t see his speed until he is able to break one.

Lol your facts don’t take into account that he was banged up, they also don’t take into account that Wright became a better RB as the year went on. He will be hard to contain next year. But you know let’s not take into account facts….

You literally said he ran for 350 against the hardest part of our schedule! That's patently false. He didn't.

And now you're saying he was banged up, so that's why he had 0 carries vs. UGA and only 5 vs. Bama. That's true. And it's also what makes your previous statement false.

Also, stating "He will be hard to contain next year" is, by definition, an opinion. Not a fact.

Lol who is “You” because I didn’t say that. Good job.

Should probably learn to keep up with your own conversations. Then again, you are arguing with everyone on the board.

If everyone on the board believes that Jaylen Wright ran for 350 against our best competition this season, I'll be here all week. 👍

Can't break free if you pu**y foot through the hole though, I'm not saying he doesn't have speed or potential but he's got work to do in the vision/shooting the gap dept. to show that 4.3 speed everyone raves about

He started fixing that at the end of the season. Then got tripped up by arm tackles in the open field.

He slowly is fixing his game. If he gets to breaking arm tackles, again, like I said Wright will be hard to contain. He started hitting the hole and running North and South the last couple of games you can go back and watch the games and see it.

This. Wright was far better in the last few games of the season. he really came on strong.

Yes, hopefully he can take some confidence from the South Alabama and Vandy games. We'll need him to be a big contributor next year!

Don't disagree that his game improved, I probably went a little overboard because some dope head said that Jabari isn't SEC quality and Wright is, and that's a laughable take. I like Wright and think he has great potential, I just can't get over backs that don't shoot the gaps like a cannon ball and end up dancing around in the backfield and losing yardage, ESPECIALLY in short yardage situations

In fairness Jabari and Wright both had that issue at the beginning of the season. Jabari just fixed his issues quicker.

But what that tells me, with both of them fixing their issues is that they are SEC caliber backs.
