'22 GA RB Justin Williams (Cal)

Just not true. Jabari is and was by far the best RB this season.
No idea why people are trashing on Jabari. He was 12th in the SEC in rushing, despite obviously splitting time with Tiyon for over half the year and being injured all year. His 5.4 yards per attempt was also 12th in the SEC. That's very good imo. Is he elite, I guess not technically, but he's still pretty darn good.

It was obvious JW needs playing time to develop in this system. JS was a step ahead in development and that should be not be overlooked. It’s been mentioned many times that players find their groove, and continuity on the OL and playing as a team go a LONG way toward success. I think both are keepers and can/will contribute to this offense. I’m not sure what the ceiling is for either one and I think that’s the concern of most folks here.

Can't break free if you pu**y foot through the hole though, I'm not saying he doesn't have speed or potential but he's got work to do in the vision/shooting the gap dept. to show that 4.3 speed everyone raves about
That I agree with….. he ran timid but did start hitting the holes more aggressively towards the end of the season…. Hopefully it carries over/improves next season.

Agreed, while I don't think Jabari is elite, he is a pretty good RB.

Jabari was so much better by season's end. Looked like a totally different RB in a good way

He's not elite as a complete back, but he has 1 or 2 elite skills (vision and quickness/change of direction) that make him a very good back, and despite his size he still occasionally trucks people

That is the most cracked out, stupid take I've ever seen in the history of my being on this board. While I am super excited about what we hopefully have coming in, Jabari Small was clearly option 1b last year, he DEFINITELY is an SEC caliber back, his quickness and change of direction is darn near elite, and he has more than adequate top end speed. His bum shoulder was the only thing that held him back from having a really solid 800-1000 yd campaign this year. Jaylen Wright has the physical attributes but he lacks vision and is very timid when hitting the holes, definitely not better than Jabari
It was against weaker competition, so there's that, but Wright looked as though he was closing the gap quite quickly. I think they both have potential to be good SEC backs. In fact, Jabari is a good SEC back, but he's not elite at this point. Same thing could've been said about Travis Stephens before 2001. In fact, not many were expecting him to hold onto the job before that fall and look what happened. Small isn't as quick as Stephens though.

When Jabari small breaks loose, he gets about 20-25 yards before he’s tripped up or arm tackled

Truly great backs score on those plays no matter where they’re at on the field. They make that last man miss

Agree in all aspects of that statement. His combination of vision, cutting, and power for his size is what makes him pretty good.

He is definitely better than Wright. I’m not sold on Wright. He has potential but not every down guy

He doesn't have Stephens acceleration but I think he is quicker with his change of direction (Jukes), Small has enough good/ great traits to be a really good back for us if he can stay healthy, he's the first back we've had in a bit that can make safeties miss in open space

Yeah because Jaylen Wright definitely broke 100 yarders every play..... and ELITE RB's typically grow on trees too. I'm cool with a back that breaks 20-25 yarders as long as he does it pretty often. Look I'm not arguing that Jabari is ELITE, I'm arguing that he is an SEC quality RB and was/is definitely better than Wright, doesn't mean he has more potential but potential means nothing until it translates to success on the field

He also needs to improve his pass protection pick ups and reading the holes…which did improve as the year went on. He’ll look/play faster when he has the mental side down. On an ordinary roster, he wouldn’t have played as a true freshman.

Definitely agree here. He really needed a redshirt year, we just didn't have the bodies to give him one.

Wright had 5 carries vs. UGA. 7 carries vs. Kentucky. 0 carries vs. Alabama.

Nearly 250 of his 350 yards came vs. Vandy, South Alabama and TN Tech.

But don't let facts get in the way of a good point.
According to your facts, he had 12 carries for over 100 yds against GA and KY. That seems pretty good, but what do I know.
