Whitehead is sssllloooowwww
We were at that S Alabama game near to the field and he looked like he was running through mud in the fourth quarter. Got tackled from behind. Hadn’t seen that since Marlin Lane graduated.
My dad (who doesn’t watch many games and is no analyst) even leaned over and said, is something wrong with him - he’s slow!
I dont like it at all. NIL is a can that has been opened that we will not like eventually. Toothpaste is out the tube.
he had such good vision and feet, but that knee injury robbed him of all of his explosiveness. Smh
Yeah.I seem to recall a play against Arkansas in 2011 where he broke one and it looked like it would be a ~70 yard TD run, and someone caught him from behind after about 15 yards. I think a Bama defensive lineman chased him down and tackled him from behind in 2014.
We’ve had decent to elite speed at RB since those days. That stretch of UT football was by far the worst…
Yeah.
Remember the 3 headed monster of Devrin Young, Marlin Lane and Rajion Neal?!
Young might have been a good player in this offense...at slot. Dude was fast.Ugh. Yes. All good VFLs, but glad we're past those days. I recall 2012 at Miss. State when we had to go to D. Young as our RB because of injuries. He looked so tiny out there. I think he made a critical fumble that contributed to our loss. That game was the beginning of the end for Dooley...
Yep, I remember when there were only 10-15 bowl games, even less in the real good ole days. It really meant something . Things change, not necessarily for the better. Most of the bowl games today are participation trophy worthy. Just something to fill tv time.Agreed. Money has taken over college athletics, certainly the major sports and it is not a good thing.
This greed will eventually destroy what was once one of the great pleasures in life - following the Vols and college football.
I don't like the NIL. It will be out of control within 5 years. You can't apply the values of capitalism to amateur sports.
I don't like the D-1 playoff and the way it has destroyed the value and excitement of the traditional bowl games.
Some folks around this board may remember when an invitation to the Sugar Bowl was the highlight of a college career - same for the other major bowls.
Bowls like the Gator, Liberty, BlueBonnet, Peach and Citrus attracted top-15 matchups and meant a lot to players able to participate.
Now we also see players opting out of bowl games to protect themselves from injury.
I love what Mike Leach said, "These kids see themselves having 10-year NFL careers but can't play one more college game ?"
Greed will keep expanding the playoff to a minimum of 16 teams, which is ridiculous. Comparing D1 to other divisions is apples and oranges.
Regarding Williams, I don't like the comments about seeing himself as a starter right away.
All he could talk about was himself and the "love" he felt on his visit. Doesn't sound like a team-first guy to me.
Rajion Neal could scoot.I seem to recall a play against Arkansas in 2011 where he broke one and it looked like it would be a ~70 yard TD run, and someone caught him from behind after about 15 yards. I think a Bama defensive lineman chased him down and tackled him from behind in 2014.
We’ve had decent to elite speed at RB since those days. That stretch of UT football was by far the worst…
He had a 7 yd average per carry vs Kentucky. Not so good vs Ga. But who did?Wright had 5 carries vs. UGA. 7 carries vs. Kentucky. 0 carries vs. Alabama.
Nearly 250 of his 350 yards came vs. Vandy, South Alabama and TN Tech.
But don't let facts get in the way of a good point.
