'25 GA S Lagonza Hayward (Florida)

lol…always your response. People talking about how Napier going to be a world beater next year. Funny. It will all be ok. So, yes, it’s a typical freak out type response.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think having an expectation that we continue to be better in recruiting is a problem. It’s pretty proven even in the transfer portal world that you need to recruit consistently at a top 10ish level to be a real contender.

It’s also not worth totally freaking out about.

If he would have went for the two point conversion we very easily could have lost that game. Being able to see a team getting better as the season went on isn’t freaking out.

Thanks King, 100% correct (obviously).

Who said he would be a world beater? Not me. But I do expect he'll field a better team next year, just based off of Lagway.

I also question how good we'll be next year. People are conveniently forgetting we'll be fielding a new OL, and that we're losing some key contributors on the DL. But I guess you would call that freaking out.

Do you know what Florida is losing?

Nope. They're not my team. But I do know Napier could have easily lost his team this season, but he pulled them together. They had some big wins. Now he's tearing it up on the recruiting trail. He's not the bad coach everyone wanted to believe he was. They may not be great next year, but they will be dangerous.

Let’s not act like they set the world on fire. They barely beat one team with a pulse all year and it was at home.

End of the day, and people are going to hate hearing this, but we need to recruit better. We're a playoff team, yet we're getting out recruited by Auburn and about to be passed by Florida. I love Coach Heupel. I'm not screaming for blood or for anyone to get fired. But he has to figure out why teams that are worse than us are out recruiting us. It's bad enough that Georgia and Bama are still getting almost whoever they want. But when teams that have not been good this year are out recruiting us, that's not good. The fact so many of you are not wanting to see this is baffling. If our goal is to win championships, which it should be, we need to recruit better.
Are teams actually recruiting better than us though? Rankings are not the end all be all… and a few points is very minor… teams you name that are not winning had better “ranked classes” than heup yet our results have been much better… I think we need to let things play out before we crown people as recruiting better… I much rather have sustainable classes than flashy classes that break down each year… it’s unfortunate but one player doesn’t make or break a program especially not a safety…

What’s his record on the, y’know, football field?
Haha. If you haven’t been watching Lagway I can see why you’d be unaware that they have the best returning QB in the league by a long shot. Kids unreal. And he’s what changed for their program.

Especially a safety? Eric Berry was a safety. He was pretty damn important. Ed Reed was a safety at Miami. Pretty damn important.

Agree on all. The portal these days helps fix any losses, too. I’ve said exactly this just in a recent post.

I mean he has a losing record overall in 3 seasons at one of the most prestigious jobs in the country. Objectively he’s a dog sh!t coach.

Saying they’ll be dangerous next season without knowing what they’re roster is going to look like doesn’t make a ton of sense to me…

No they are not recruiting better than we are. Bunch of chicken littles in here…

This is a message board with a bunch of people posting. Not just you. I responded to you but was referring to other posts. Don’t get so sensitive. I know you’ve followed this for a long time- this isn’t the first losing a recruit and won’t be the last. We will still field good football teams.

I “think” in the past when we lost out on a guy we scrambled to fill sometimes with a lesser guy. Hell when Heup first got here we were so thin we needed bodies with only 55 scholarship players. Now if we miss we can afford to wait and fill with a certain talent level in the portal or use that spot in a future class. There’s definitely places that you cannot lose out many times in multiple years like OT. Safety though we’re okay; way more options at safety in the portal.
