'25 GA S Lagonza Hayward (Florida)

I can honestly say this stuff doesn't affect me at all. Actually, I kinda would like to see schools keep commitments silent until signing day. I'm long past the day of counting a recruit in the fold just because he made a commitment. Maybe we can change it to "i might come play here IDK yet" thing instead of commitment. 😅. If this year shows anything...throwing a bunch of money at players and "loading up" doesn't always work out best. TBD i guess.
OR something like, " Presently, I think I might have an inkling to play for...........". That is about the extent of a "Commitment" today.:(

Yup, the NEGAVOLS will, all the while, Coach Hype will get the pieces he needs each year in the portal. We have the coach, the coaches, the players, the fanbase AND the MONEY to get to the playoffs every year!!!
Seems to me getting to the playoffs ever year out of the SEC will prove to be very challenging. There are 7 teams this season that have been in contention with close losses and upsets having shaped the standings. NIL has brought more parity and having 2-3 programs dominating every season isn’t looking likely.

Wondering who Florida has on their staff that are excellent recruiters. I know they don’t have any good football coaches on staff so I’m curious where they are making their pay
No great recruiters on their staff.

It's the boosters whose names are on their facilities and stadiums recruiting these kids.

It is the boosters. My friend is a huge UF fan. He said their insiders basically told them that the big money boosters went to the AD and said we are not giving you the money to buy out Napier's contact. Instead we will give you money to significantly upgrade the roster.

Look .....

We are getting ready to play in the 1st annual 12 team College Football Playoff, while Florida will be getting ready to play in the Citrus Bowl, Gator Bowl or the ReliaQuest Bowl, with the players who don't opt-out of the game .... but if you want to kiss their butts? That's fine.

.... and I'm glad that Billy Napier has survived to coach another year. He will never take them to the College Football Playoff. He will only ever win just enough to keep from getting fired every year. That is exactly the type of coach a Tennessee fan should want Florida to have.
The guy who took us to OT at our place this season? Sure doesn’t seem like he’s leading them towards being uncompetitive?

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I could care less who brings the kids in (NIL, Staff, Neyland) as long as they come and the staff can put a good product on the field

Heupel has gone 10-2 in 2 out of the last 3 seasons, that's all that matters.

Even 7-5 Michigan has a better class than we do now.
and 9 out of 10 yrs they will just like ND OSU ALA FL USC. We are not going to beat these teams out as much as they beat us out. Portal and player selection is real important and development is imperative. We will be in shouting distance but we are still turning around 20 yrs of crap and is not going to happen now. This is not instant going to take a bit

That's one game. They were also blown out at home by Miami and Texas A&M .... and blown out on the road by Texas.

Billy Napier's 18-19 record through his first 3 seasons at Florida is worse than Ron Zook's (23-15), Will Muschamp's (22-16), Jim McElwain's (22-12) and Dan Mullen's (29-9) through their first 3 seasons at Florida - AND BY A LOT.

.... and after having a top 5 rated class for most of the 2023 recruiting cycle, it fell apart just before the early signing period began last December, and they finished with a pretty mediocre class.

Billy Napier is shaping up to be the worst head football coach that Florida has had since pre-Spurrier.

That has to be what's going on.........

Napier was told he has one year...........The buyout check is going to Recruiting (NIL)

and the fact FSU is a dumpster fire

Napier is a weird case. The results are middling at best, and often poor. He’s had recruiting issues absolutely blow up in his face and so many guys have transferred out. And yet he’s committed to a process and it seems to be slowly building. Lagway is legit and there is other young talent that is playing well.

I keep waiting for the whole thing to fall apart.

Just "being in the playoffs" isn't a momentum builder in the 12 team era that it was in the 4 team era.

Need to win a game or two at least to build real momentum from it. But got to be in it to have a chance to win playoff games. That is step 1. Need to take the next step.
This is beyond dumb. Getting to the playoffs with a 10-2 decried is a huge momentum builder.

Not like it was in the 4 team era.

it still is one, but have to do something in the playoffs now for it to really stick,

pretty soon we'll see coaches get fired for making the playoffs but not getting past the first round.

In the 4 team playoff days, that would've never happened (see Lincoln riley at OU).
