'25 GA S Lagonza Hayward (Florida)

That's one game. They were also blown out at home by Miami and Texas A&M .... and blown out on the road by Texas.

Billy Napier's 18-19 record through his first 3 seasons at Florida is worse than Ron Zook's (23-15), Will Muschamp's (22-16), Jim McElwain's (22-12) and Dan Mullen's (29-9) through their first 3 seasons at Florida - AND BY A LOT.

.... and after having a top 5 rated class for most of the 2023 recruiting cycle, it fell apart just before the early signing period began last December, and they finished with a pretty mediocre class.

Billy Napier is shaping up to be the worst head football coach that Florida has had since pre-Spurrier.
lagway wasnt the starting qb in any of those 3 games, and floridas 2024 class was 7 overall with the number 1 qb and dls in the class. That ship turned around, dont sleep on florida

Not like it was in the 4 team era.

it still is one, but have to do something in the playoffs now for it to really stick,

pretty soon we'll see coaches get fired for making the playoffs but not getting past the first round.

In the 4 team playoff days, that would've never happened (see Lincoln riley at OU).
And you know this for certain how exactly?

Lmao they will be mid again next year. Lagway isnt covering up all of this program’s issue. Im convinced some people on here are scared of their own shadows smh

How does that explain Florida allowing 41 points to Miami (at home), 33 points to Texas A&M (at home), and 49 points to Texas? Does Lagway play defense?

floridas 2024 class was 7 overall with the number 1 qb and dls in the class.
According to 247 Sports Composite Team Rankings for 2024 :

Florida finished 13th overall. 247 Sports has become the most commonly referenced service on VolNation, and in most places where college football recruiting is discussed. I'm not sure where you came up with Florida finishing 7th ... but it wasn't from the most reputable college football recruiting service.

Give me a break. Billy Napier's 18-19 overall record at Florida speaks for itself. He is a Ron Zook redux.

Just "being in the playoffs" isn't a momentum builder in the 12 team era that it was in the 4 team era.

Need to win a game or two at least to build real momentum from it. But got to be in it to have a chance to win playoff games. That is step 1. Need to take the next step.

In this scenario, Vols would be 30-9 over the last 3 seasons with a playoff berth.

Seems rather momentumy to me

He's 18-19 overall with a 7-5 season in his 3rd year.

He stinks.

I also don't buy the notion that Florida has suddenly figured it out and are surging. Yes, Lagway looks better than earlier in the season, but the last 5 games on their schedule turned out to not be the insane gauntlet people thought. LSU is disappointing, Ole Miss killed themselves in that game and still shredded Florida's defense, and FSU sucks historically. I'm not saying LSU and Ole Miss are bad wins but they're not elite obviously. Next year will be another year similar to this one for them I would guess.

Maybe I worded poorly because I'm not saying it's zero momentum

All I'm saying is making a 12 team playoff isn't the same momentum boost as making a 4 team playoff

If we make it to the semi finals this year, that's the type of momentum of being a top 4 team that making the 4 team playoff would've been...one win from playing for a natty.

Now getting to a 12 team playoff is great, and necessary to build serious momentum, but it's definitely not the same as being in the final 4 or even final 8.
