'25 GA S Lagonza Hayward (Florida)

It happens sometimes. You can't win the dance if you don't get invited. Our game plan was simply terrible.
I think what I was saying might've been misinterpreted by some (not you necessarily) because I agree it's great that we are in, and as you said we can't win it if we're not in it, but simply being "in it" isn't the flex it was even a year ago in terms of standing out when we have teams like IU, Arizona State and SMU also "in it".

Being in it should always be the goal, along with ultimately winning games and then winning it, but we can't expect it to move the needle as much as it once did when there were 4 teams in terms of recruiting/ elevating the program.

This thread had nothing for 15 days but you come in here and boast about a bad quarter? Weak sauce and must be a troll. Toot-a-loo
Not here to boast. I caught flack pointing out what I was saying and came to reinforce that what I was saying was true.

We need to make the playoffs to win it all, of course it is important and great, but in the 12 team era simply being a team in the bracket isn't going to move the needle as much as it did when being one of the top 4.

Oh I 100% agree with that however we don't have a player issue we have coaching issues. WR coach and OL coach must go. Would prefer halze to GIT also. Banks game plan was ***** awful. We need to portal for LBs who can play in space, OL specifically 2 tackles who can push guys for time, and a RB and possibly a WR or Two if they are there. Go offer Jeremiah Smith 2.5 a year

I disagree. We don’t have the players to run with OSU or Georgia etc. It is a player issue.

Development, who's casting the recruiting profile, who coaches them ? If they are not talent why do we recruit them ? So yes it is a coaching issue. Whatever they are teaching does not translate

This one hurts more after last night.

We still have a step to go in terms of athleticism in the secondary. I think missing our starting LB hurt but I think there’s still a lot more we can get out of the safety position and that’s not any hate on Will brooks who stepped up and has done an outstanding job as a walk on. But plain and simple we where not athletic enough on the backend although it didn’t help OSU had time to throw

Much more to the story here than we know.

Dude prob got white girled at UF.

He isn’t a Vol. Moving on. Hope we boat race them every year and throw him some shade.
He went to Florida weekend before signing with half his family still thinking he was 100% going to Tennessee. Someone orchestrated a back room deal to Florida and got him to visit then commit for a bigger NIL.

These happen to all teams in modern "recruiting" if you can call it that.

That said, we need to find ways to win these, especially over bottom feeder programs like 7-5 UF with a .500 Sun Belt Coach at the helm for them.

That is, if we want to start competing and winning games like the one we saw last night.

We never got an opportunity to counter.

Maybe not...then again these day recruiting and tampering never ends. Got to get dirty like the big boys off the field if we want to compete with them on the field.
Unfortunately you’re not wrong. Ohio State has recruited top three teams average for the last five years. They went out last season and spent major money to get the best portal players available. Downs and a lot of guys like that know where they’re going before they even go into the portal.
