GA Tech recruiting rankings

Tom Osborne won championships at Neb. with less stars also.

Times have changed my man so much since 20+ years ago. The top programs don't just get all of the best talent like they used to (typically. Unless you're Bama and buy them)

Tons of parity, tons more population nation wide and the evolution of the "modern" athlete coupled with higher numbers of these players has lead to a completely different landscape nation wide. This country probably has some 70 million more people now since Tom Osborne's rein. Enough population to create many small nations....just think what that's added to the "talent pools" especially in big cities. That's where the population booms are happening. Look how much better Nashville high school teams have gotten just in the last 3-5 years.

Nebraska used to have some kind of pipeline to the inner city Los Angeles areas. Their corn fed boys came from middle American. Their star athletes were from California a lot. They don't have that pipeline anymore. Probably because they haven't been paying for it.....

Things will never be the same. So have to try to stay ahead of the ever changing times.

Wait till Nathan Cottrell gets down there. Everyone will be wondering why he's not in Knoxville. One I think we missed.

I can't wait to see him play at the Flats(the old name for the Grant Field-Bobby Dodd Stadium area)!

All rivals rankings. That is the team that just went 2-0 vs SEC this season. Probably would have won the East. Who can explain this?

This is also a team that lost to a North Carolina team with an absolutely horrible defense. Go figure. No, I doubt Ga Tech would have won the SEC East. Week-in and week-out, playing in the SEC takes its toll. Anybody who pays attention to college football should know that.

I think this GT team would have won 8-9 games in the SEC this season.

Easy Peasy............A system few teams run and when IT works, IT works.
Remember the Air Force game vs. UT.....wing T should have beat us that day......we had a goal line stand to pull it out. What do you think their recruiting ranking was?
Coaching, preparation and getting your team ready usually always works. Coaches are using that underdog, we vs. the SEC and the world to good use. Then we are talking about Miss Mistake and Ol Piss.

Yep that Air Force game was costly. I hope we never play them again.

Great mystery how some guys succeed without the benefit of highly ranked recruiting classes while those consistently in the top 10 find a way to underachieve. If I had the answer I would bottle it. Why does Gary Patterson win...or the old guy at K State? I would say keeping key players 4 years and a ton of redshirts has a lot to do with it...and having great staffs. Look at the job Johnson did at Navy...that should tell you something.

I'm going to have to be in Bobby Dodd Stadium for that game. The Tennessee fans will probably have 3/4 of the seats during that game.

Article said it'd be the Chick-Fil-A kickoff classic in the Falcons new stadium.

Paul Johnson gets more out of less talent than any coach around! In an option offense you don't need as many highly ranked linemen, running backs, quarterbacks or recievers. The fly in the ointment is defenses aren't great a lot of the time.

That's why the zone read is becoming so popular as well.

That's cool but i wish it was in Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Yeah, Bobby Dodd isn't bad. It's been renovated a few years ago. From the upper end zone level you have an incredible view of downtown Atlanta.

I remember when I was growing up in the '80's Tennessee played GT just about every year. That went by the wayside when the SEC expanded. Back then it was a good home and away yearly series.

Motivation and a unique offense with a very good QB go a long way in college football.

They also lost to a 7 loss UNC team. Who can explain this?

Ohio state loss to VT and only one undefeated team in D 1. Not easy to win them all is it?

Remember this when Iowa beats UT tomorrow.
There is more to success than recruiting rankings and catchy slogans. Butch has a long way to go.

This is why you have to have coaches that can coach up players. Talent does help. But in the end, coaches are going to determine whether the team wins and loses.
