A missed FG in OT, unforced fumble by Clint Stoerner and a Marcus Outzen-led FSU in the title game all agree UGA backed into a NC. 😂

Let’s see.....the fumble was caused by a ferocious bull rush and I’ll spot you Weinke if we get Jamal Lewis back and Al Wilson is 100%.

Why is a Gator defending uga anyway?? 😎😎

Because they won the national title game.

Feel free to continue hating on them for doing so.

Bama-dawg, you’re ok in my book. A rare uga fan.

I see where you were going, but frankly it was a little too indirect. I’d just post “1998” in response if I were you.

Please carry on.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to make you feel better. Those players are elite in the NFL without Brady coaching them there so I give more credit to the players. Everyone knows those guys are ballers. Doesn’t matter who is coaching them.
This is is a really clueless take based on the observable results, but if I’ve learned anything on this forum, it’s that beardedvol wants to respond to the same idea a bunch of times. You are certainly going to give him a lot of pleasure with this.

All I know is that Brady is sitting at home waiting on phone calls while 2 out of those 3 players just took a lousy franchise to the AFC Championship for the first time since 1988. And this is their first full NFL season. Brady was riding the coattails of those players, just like everyone else on that LSU coaching staff. People need to realize that.

Oh yeah and don't forget losing to FSU in the regular season and STILL got another shot and backed into a natty....Yeah it works both ways......P.S. Ole Miss says hey.

Absolutely. After all, game respects game...and all that.....

What if '21 UGA was named "Dit-ka"?

One of my faves from Superfans:

Bill Swerski: Okay, gentlemen, another scenario: Da Bears, they don’t make it, the plane is delayed.. and the only one who shows up is Ditka. Ditka vs. Da Giants. Okay, score, gentlemen.

Pat Arnold: Alright, after da heart attack, I gotta say Ditka 17, Giants 14. He just barely gets by.

Bill Swerski: Alright, that sounds exciting. Perhaps, you know, a late Ditka field goal.

Todd O’Conner: Bears!

Superfans: Bears!!

It takes some degree of luck to win a natty.

It’s disingenuous to take shots at UGA winning this year while ignoring all the bounces that went your way back in the day.

I absolutely hate UGA, but I ain’t hating on them.

They’re the champs, regardless of the circumstances.

There is a huge difference between ‘not hating on’ a team and springing to their defense. I’ll just never fully understand the hold that a trash program like uga has on a small but ferocious band of Vols in here....and apparently you as well.

I defend Tennessee, and......well, that’s it. I afford a few programs (Florida among them) a grudging respect, but I wouldn’t defend Florida if a uga fan was dissing on them.

Different strokes and all that, I suppose.

This year’s uga team benefited from an overall down year in football, and still split their series with Bama, unfortunately winning the second matchup.

There are multiple teams over the past 10 years that would have smoked uga.

Backed their way into a NC. Yay??

Criticize the schedule and available competition, as if UGA controlled that.

Point out championship teams from completely different seasons that could beat UGA, as if that matters THIS season. UGA doesn’t have to beat the ‘95 Cornhuskers or ‘01 Hurricanes to win a chip in ‘21.

Yep, textbook definition of hating on a team that just won a natty. 😂

UGA won the natty period, doesn’t matter how they did it. I wish we won it this year in the same fashion as them. And no, I don’t like UGA I despise them

Clearly the point of my post passed by you. I never dispute that I ‘hate on’ uga. My point being I am always amused by the need of some on these boards to defend them vigorously. uga fans defending them is obviously understandable. But the band of Vols (and you) who do so puzzle and amuse me.

Now, on to the next topic to pass the offseason.

They’re defending the argument, not UGA.

Plug in any other team that had UGA’s season and won the natty…followed by your comparisons to past champions, questioning their level of competition relative to other years and claiming they “backed in” to a chip, you wouldn’t be any less of a hater.

Napier wants everyone to know that he will be emphasizing the importance of his special teams units. He could have done that without such a silly label for the coordinator. It is Butch-esque, but he has a long way to go to catch "Champions of Life" and "5 Star Hearts" on the cheesiness scale.... not to mention the Turnover Trash Can.

Exactly. It's not fair to say that Georgia backed into the National Championship. Backing into a National Championship is what Florida did in 1996. After losing to Florida State, they needed Nebraska to lose to Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game and Arizona State to lose to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. The '96 Gators got lucky, whereas Georgia never lost control of their own fate.

Georgia did everything they could with regard to their schedule.

My god, they played what everyone thought was a playoff game to start the season. No one knew Clemson would drop off that much

I will say it is rather touching that so many have joined to defend uga and their marvelous, heroic, historic championship. You are all just better than average people. It's inspiring to even be in your electronic presence.

Nope. Because I have sufficient respect for most other teams to simply let a NC they win go without comment. I still would not defend them against another fan, because frankly I just don't care enough about any other teams to do so. If you feel this need, as I have said, more power to you.

You can say it all day long, that 1996 national title trophy has our name on it. 😂

The 2021 Georgia Bulldogs aren't some team of the ages, that will be remembered by anyone outside of their own fan base, but they are a very deserving champion, nevertheless.
