Maybe so, but that was last year. Noone ever saw a semblance of this in practice or games. He was late to town, out of shape, mad, and questioning his decision with he BP issues.

Big props to him. Somebody got in that kids ear and he has responded. Many don't.

Agree props to him but if no one ever saw a semblance that was their fault. He was a great rebounder and hustler and had tremendous footwork for a big in his limited minutes last year. I think people were looking for reasons not to have him in there vs. S. Pearl. Had he played 26 - 30 minutes a game he would have led the team in rebounds last year good attitude or not. He was a rebounding beast last year or could have been- this year he's an all out BEAST.

LawVol. Did you listen to the postgame with Cuonzo? I was impressed by how upbeat he was in defeat. He seemed to understand that, although his point guard and others did not play as well as they should have, they can and will in the future and they almost knocked off a Top Ten team. Great game. I don't remember ever being this proud of a team that just lost, save a few players...

I'm just saying that it takes two and neither BP nor maymon did their job.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. He ran a play where his players set screens and had multiple options. Memphis played it well. I'm not going to criticize the call.

Didn't see that great of defense from Memphis. Some of it may be young guys with limited basketball iq's not knowing to keep moving and screening if the initial move doesn't result in what you expected it to. I also didin't like the result where Golden gets it underneath with 3 seconds going away from the basket.

Some of these guys haven't played a lot or a lot together -- they should get better as the season progresses. Should be fun.

Golden from 25
Golden dribbling 30 ft out, tied, with 5 seconds left on another one
Maymon out of range jumper from 17 ft on the baseline
Maymon turnover instead of jumper from same spot

Those are 4 I remember that were in the last 10 minutes.

Proud of the team and coaches though. They fought. Not being able to get a decent shot or to the line to win the game on 2 or 3 occasions is on the coach and pg.

Iagree.

If you're insinuating that I wouldn't give Pearl the same pass, you're wrong. Last year in late game situations, our closest shot was from about 35 feet. If Pearl had gotten us the same exact shots as we got today, I'd defend them as good plays.

lmao

Man ... some of you guys would complain if JC didn't make enough wine out of water.

Another great effort by the team today. 180 degrees from last season.

LOve this team and their grit and hustle. Great coaching so far and the players really seem to listen to the coaches during the time-outs. Cuanzo needs to rein in McRae. He is not as good as he thinks he is (has potential) and should not take some of the shots he takes. Woolridge should be 9 or 10 in the rotation. Impressed with all of the freshmen and Miller.

I was very impressed with both games, especially the defensive intensity they've shown the last two days. I didn't expect them to be able to claw their way back into it in the second half, but they never gave up on themselves. I loved the offensive movement much better than last year. They're just one solid shooter away from really going far this year, but they have several players that might grow into that role this year. And with their defense getting better, they're going to be in a lot of close games this year. It will be fun watching them grow this year.

I thought the guard play was going to be the stength of this team. Doesn't appear to be the case. CM said after the Duke game that it was a lesson, thats loser talk. I would bet TN will be in for a lot more lessons this season.

Yeah, at halftime Memphis was only shooting about 60 percent. Great defense.

Maymon played outta his mind. Golden played outta control.

Overall, I don't know how anyone could be disappointed with how the team played today. They battled back and almost got the W. As someone else mentioned, here we are just a few games into the season and we already look better than we looked at any point last year.

Last year with all the controversy we won 19 games. Dont believe this team will win that many. Pearl has won less than 20 only twice in his career. Its sad to watch the hope springing eternal on these boards. Get used to dissapointment. Vol fans. Can't you just not wait to play Ky.

Only a loser is happy with a moral victory. How can I not be dissapointed with two losses.

Maymon played fantastic. Could have used just a little help from the guards. Where where our coaches.
