Game Thread: #13/10 LSU (23-4, 10-3) @ Tennessee (16-9, 9-4 SEC) 2/25/24 12:00 pm EST ESPN

It's just a microcosm of the BS that Majors spins here over and over again. It is really weird how he never lets up, even when he's proven wrong. I think he's getting ready to join Darth on the 'ignore' button, but somebody need to rebut the lies he keeps spreading.

So she did or not have a Benz? You claimed that was from 2022 which was false. Moxley called you on that one, not me. If she’s driving a new nice, scat then good for the young lady. I don’t do painting with a twist with players and wish them safe travels .

My microcosm still has her at 12 wins 34 losses. Is that what you have?

Her deal ended at the end 2023.

KJH presser. Nothing much new. Maria actually asked a good question (!) about the fine line btw wanting to make a play for your team and doing too much. KJH said, and some of ya'll please listen, it's not about being selfish or anything like that. Just bad execution and bad decisions. As always they'll watch film and try to learn, and poor JP having to go through that.

Was also asked about not getting Rickea enough shots, esp in the 4th. Said the obvious, the lack of outside shooting let them just smother her. Also said we missed her a few times, which we did, and that she has to get in the post a little quicker, which she does. That's where Jewel's bad game killed us. It lets them just maul Rickea.

Has CKH been fired yet?

Keep waiting for the ESPN notification but nothing yet.

I’m so sick of it. Very winnable game against a very beatable team with tired legs. Both times we had a week off and a big game we lost. That’s coaching, more coaching does not equate to a better product and that’s a huge problem.

Bunch of recruits and their parents at this game, sadly they watched the same game we did. Just embarrassing, who wants to be part of a team that plays and is coached like that?

Watching film only matters when u point out the mistakes, Powell has been doing this since she’s been here and it hasn’t changed. But the more I think about it, I have to give Rickea some of the blame, u need to tell your pg to get u the ball and demand it. I watch every game Juju Watkins plays and her pg makes sure to get her the ball and u see her demanding the ball, u never see them going 5 mins without passing her the ball.

That's not fair, JP has had some outstanding games for us. But she, like most of our players, has a ceiling on her talent and it caught up to her today.

It’s not just about today, I’ve been complaining about her for 2 years now, I don’t expect her to be something she’s not but I do want her to be a facilitator and get her playmakers easy shots, get the ball to them in their spots, a players like Spear needs a pg like that. its not all negative, I do like how Powell fights and competes while being undersized, it a shoot 1st pg is not what this team needs, but whatever it’s too late now anyway.

Watch the way our men's team moves--the players and the ball--and the way the women move themselves
and the ball. The former features a lot of quick ball movement, the latter very slow. That's been a fundamental problem
with our offense for 15 years. LSU played smart defense late; as Harper pointed out, they were sagging and giving us space
out front and on the perimeter but we couldn't make shots. LSU didn't even play well in this game--shot 33 percent. Reese
had a bad game offensively. But we shot only 31 percent and made 3 threes. That's always going to result in an L against
quality competition.

JP's bad game is taking alot of heat off Jewel, but I'd actually say Jewel's bad game hurt us more. Lack of offensive options is why JP lost her cool in the 4th. Jewel spreading the floor is absolutely vital to keeping them off Rickea. By the end of the game they were triple teaming Rickea and JP got desperate.

I wish we'd find Sara as an option in those situations.

Bottom line both JP and Jewel are good players who have some serious limitations. For us to win, both have to perform well. LOL, we're a real house of cards.

No one is asking Powell to be an All-American or all-conference player even. At least I’M not. She is, however, a 5th year PG at the collegiate level. D1 at that.

You don’t have to be a 5 star PG to understand the balance between getting your teammates involved and calling your own number. She has struggled with that her entire career here.

So, yes, I do believe it’s a talent thing, but it’s JUST as much of a decision-making and IQ issue

Yep that was a huge turning point. I'd never blame reffing esp when we shot so bad. But when your margin of error is so slim, these missed calls are brutal. Instead of being down 4 w the ball, HVL hits a 3 after the 2 double dribbles and the walk and they're ahead 7.
Yep, we lost because of refs.

I would have burned the ears off of those refs, gotten my T and smiled

I think the decision making is part of the talent gap. And decision making gets alot tougher when a big offensive option (JS) disappears and allows them to smother the best offensive option.

Spear disappointed me, but she’s a rhythm player and needs to get in a groove, they need to find a way for Rickea and Apear to play off of each other, and stop having Spear just stand around and get her moving through screens to get open.

They set lots of screens for Jewel. She's just a streaky 3 shooter and doesn't finish at the rim as well against better teams.

I wish they'd look for 3s for Sara more in those situations.

So Van Lith scoring like her old Louisville days didn't have one thing with Tennessee losing today.
Plus playing a team who had played 3 games in 7 days, Tennessee should've had a advantage of resting all week.

This narrative about refs costing teams games gets old quickly.
Was there missed calls yes most definitely on both sides ..

Has KJH ever gotten a technical? I can't remember one, but would have loved to have seen one there. Also I think the ball off the ref in the first half might have been a miss too. The ref was out of bounds when it contacted her.

I missed where anyone said refs cost the game. In fact, everyone has said they didn't. But they still made some very bad calls that hurt.
