The one issue I have with the coaching staff, is that they can’t put a good roster together. Too many flaws, I’m not even a coach and I can help them identify the right players to recruit.

It ain't the roster
A bad roster wouldn't have moments of brilliance
I've seen these girls perform at their best and at their best they can compete with anyone
but
You can have all the ingredients for cake
but if the baker isn't following the right recipe,,,it comes out cornbread

A coach cost us at least 14 points on terrible evaluation of starters at both the start of the game and the half…

That puts us in contention tn. But hard to compete when the other team scores 8 in 30 secs on u

This team needs a lot of work to be a top 10 team, or even top 20. The pieces are there but they need someone to put it all together. Our offense is inconsistent, what happened to Spesrs and her 17 points a game from her other school. Ohio State is known for its press but we were unprepared. We are clueless when it comes to blocking out for rebounds. I will say one thing Key outplayed Holingshead by a mile. Holingshead does not hustle, play with passion or use her height to protect the rim. Sad but true turnovers but be a permanent part of the Lady Vol program. The ladies and the coaching staff seemed hapless today.

They seem HAPLESS every game...................................intensity is zero!!

Are you hating it because you didn’t see it coming or are you hating it because you saw it coming and didn’t want to admit it? Either spot is where many fans find themselves today. It’s not reveling but more revealing with each loss.

Bright side of all this is TK looked pretty darn good out there. We need more solid minutes from her. Our best scorer (Spear without jackson playing) has been non existent as of late, not gonna win games with her not scoring. Another confusing thing is Hollingshed continues to be underwhelming. Turnovers and bad shooting still haunts this team as well. Wells looks like she’s improving (still not shooting great). It can’t get much worse then this ig. Only up from here one can hope.

I'm also deeply hating how I'm feeling mostly bc my game buddy is just crushed. She idolizes RJ and was literally counting the days til the season started. She'll be off to college next year, so this was our last big basketball go round together. Of course we'll have many more good times together in the next year, but to have the season crumble so early and RJ out so long has been just awful for her.

I'm not a bit ashamed I held on to the thin hope for so long. The scenario for this year was flimsy, but there seemed like a remote chance. RJ, plus the portal pieces, would carry us to enough ranked wins to change the narrative of the LVs as a middling team w middling players who can't win big games. Then we could get some decent recruits. But that bandaid got cruelly ripped off and the whole ugly scab is hanging out now. And witnessed by millions on national tv.

The hell of it is if RJ plays, IMO we definitely beat Notre Dame. The second half collapse wouldn't have happened. Even w ND crippled themselves, that would have been huge. We would have had a chance against OSU w RJ, since just like w ND, I saw no one out there who could have guarded her. McMahon would have fouled out even earlier trying. Just add RJ's average, 22 pts and 12 rebounds, and it all changes. At least we wouldn't have been humiliated. We'd have gone 2-2 or even 3-1 in the biggest four game stretch this program has had in a long time.

But not to be. The only hope now is a very good conference run and a miracle deep tourney run. Could happen, but w RJ's status up in the air and the rest, most espec the coaching, being what they are, I'm not optimistic. And even if that did happen, we've now had a very painful look at next year and it ain't pretty.

Nothing will happen to KJH this year, but IMO after next year serious discussion will be underway.

"the rest of the Story"..................how did that year finish out............AND it told the future.
Why is it so hard to admit that for some reason we need to see the program die in front of us.......that neither Holly or Kellie is going to get the job done?????

And then bottom out with 6 straight losses? Nice win over Texas and cupcakes gave a strong false hope.

more along the lines of the second one
Even without RJ, I had higher hopes for this team
and more so for this coach....I truly want/wanted Kellie to be the one since
I saw her as a PG in the SEC 96 tourney and always loved her confidence
But, like Holly, she will not put an Alpha as an assistant,,,and I truly believe that is what is missing
