Game Thread: (7/7) Lady Vols 56 - (10/9) Connecticut 75

In the last four games you have to wonder what has happened to the defense. We've been crappy on offense all season 20 turnovers and score less than 70 points. We've won eight games scoring less than 70 points and three more barley reaching 70. We've won four games scoring less than sixty. So what were doing on offense hasn't changed dramatically, but the rebounding and ability to stop teams from scoring has totally disappeared. We were holding teams under sixty or in the 60's everytime we played now we can't come close to that. Were seldom going to win letting teams score high seventies or eighties just not who we are. If we can't get the defense back were in trouble.

Great read and I agree. I see times when we simply reach for a rebound instead of going for it aggressively and seldom get 50/50

Ironically, this has been a complaint this year by several Connecticut fans: we don’t see the same level of hustle and assertiveness that previous Husky squads showed.

Earlier, GameTime referenced Edwards as the UConn girl with the odd hair color pattern. You’ll note that those are LA Laker colors. She does this in memory of Kobe Bryant.

And Rae. Dang Rae who has now made the same highly predicable, heavily scouted "get to the rim "bad decision 27 consecutive times. Can you imagine how much film she's watched of her kooky playground scoop and sprawl play? Yet still doing it 4 or 5 times a game. Rae's another legit shooter and contribution is clearly as an outside and even midrange scorer. Why are they/she making this so hard? Forget the dang rim Rae.

I agree with all that especially the 27 bad decisions in a row. My thought is that Rae was the face of the Lady Vols until her Injury when JH stepped up BIG TIME and started getting national attention. When Rae came back, she began forcing things to re-establish herself as the “one”. I am not saying she’s aware she’s doing it but her decision making has been suspect. Especially during the Auburn game when her play pretty much shut the door on a win. I don’t see how she declares for the draft. Second round picks often don’t make a team.

Need to set some screens and let her get a few shots off from the perimeter. Her best game was Arkansas since she's been back and that was done almost totally on the perimeter.

You're both "guests" here. We don't need fans from other teams lecturing us about fans from other teams. Cease and desist.
I’ll let you know if I ever get in the lecturing business like a certain UConn poster does (Sir Richard aka needorange), but tyvm.

Beg to differ... IMO Mimi Collins, 6'3" Jr with brains playing Power5 ball after transferring

You could argue grown up Westbrook if without the baggage[/QUOTE
Re: Westbrook, a big IF.
Do wish Collins had given Kellie a chance and wish Zaay could have kept it together.

Yes, I wish Mimi would have at least considered giving Kellie a chance but I understand why she didn’t. She wanted to play for Holly and believed in her vision. Idk what happened to Zaay, it’s sad. Hopefully she’s happy and doing well at UAPB!

OR.... they could have just vetoed Marta playing internationally over summer after she literally limped to the finish line last season. Sure would be nice to have another versatile player in the lineup right about now...

Should they have shut Marta down completely for the summer, or maybe put her in a bubble to protect her? Tell her to stay in bed all summer?
