This is what it looks like when a bunch of kids you pick up in the portal play against a team that has played together and been developed together in a superior system that has an identity, and is run by a coach that does more than run a turnstyle on the sideline and sit on his hands when his kids are rattled.

We might be better by the end of the year, but it was foolish to think you could build a team this way and come out firing on all cylinders against a tough schedule.

This is just pathetic, and it is absolutely inexcusable to see it happen this far into Kellie's tenure.

This team is light years away from where it should be.

You and I have been saying that all along. Git to have players that have been in your system a couple of years. Instead we have a thrown together group. I feel sorry for Horston,she deserves better..

Maybe this will get their head out of the clouds with how great they are and cause them to get serious about basketball. Looked like freshman with a first year coach tonight. Time to get back to work because this schedule isn't easy.

This game definitely came down to coaching. We have the better players.

We have the more talented players for sure. That does not necessarily make them better.

I said the last two years that Horston papers over a myriad of problems and disguises the true state of the program.

And yet we made it back to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 6 years last year without her...

At the end of the day the LV needs a coach that can actually coach. I hope I'm wrong but we're not goong to be were we want to be with Kelly. I pray I'm wrong because I really like here. You can have top 5 talent but if you consistently show you can't beat 15th ranked teams then we have a problem. So disappointing.

Really? She led the team with 7 turnovers tonight.

You don't need to be in the system for 2 years to play good, disciplined fundamental basketball if you've got a tough-minded coach who can teach those qualities.

Again, it's only Game One. It's a blessing this was exposed now because we have plenty of time to work on it.

Some of this stuff should have been cured in practice. These ladies did just start making mistakes. They are making mistakes that top teams simply do not make. I am not giving an such excuses as this is their first game. 29 turnovers is ridiculous. They need a lot of work.

Someone explain what you do when you're being pressure to beat the press and send it to Kellie. I would have never thought she would allow this to happen .

I do not like Kim Mulkey at all but the woman can recruit and coach players up. At aome point we need to move away from out UT tree to get this program back to where it should be.

That crazy lineup in the 2nd quarter that started turning the ball over and stagnating the offense (with no timeouts called) was a coaching misdemeanor.

For years our crap play has been made clear by our terrible Assist to Turnover ratio---a very good, simple metric of team performance. It's been
bad for years--coaches fail to improve it--and tonight we had 10 assists to 29 (!) turnovers.

Who was saying yesterday that we were on the "cusp of greatness." It always helps to watch the team before making any crazy pronouncements.

In all fairness, Rickea played like it was her first game as a freshman. She got beat on defense a lot and didn't show much offensively.

You can conjure all the excuses you want to about gelling and boogie woogie , beating the press with this talent shouldn't have been rocket science. WTF ruled this game and we was the superior team .
