Game Thread Lady Vols at Georgia

should have let Dunbar play enough to break a sweat. Nunn was a no show, Nared was horrible, Meme was meney miney moe.. But KD sits... :(

The only thing consistent about this team is that is it inconsistent. It needs atleast 4 players it can rely on because not all 3 of Nared, DeSheilds, & Russell will be on every night. If one of them are off who is gonna step up? That's the question no one knows the answer to.

Nared is the hero of this team it seems a lot of the time. She should be able to have an off night and someone else step up but they can't seem to get that figured out. I know they have specific plays for Reynolds so maybe they are hoping maybe she can be the final missing piece.

Only play that's run for Jordan is the high low with the post and she's posting in the paint, but they haven't ran it in a few games.

Reynolds was useless on offense for three years, and beyond her ability to find Russell for easy buckets from time to time, she's still useless on offense.

Jackson is the one who needs to be better. She has size, athleticism and a nice looking shot. She needs to be better more often.

The play that they have for Reynolds could be a play for Jackson instead. As AMB stated she seems very athletic.

robinson should have fouled out when she came over Reynolds to knock away a rebound before the first OT. home cooking again?

It wasn't the refs that lost the game for us.
Try 24 turnovers. Or only 5 fg's made by all the LV's put together that were not named Diamond or Mercedes.
Am I mistaken or did one of our popular posters say that they would never post on Volnation again if Tennessee beat SC ???

The missing piece is Te'a Cooper, who's injured on the bench. The other missing pieces will be FR next year. When Nared has a bad night, the LVs lose-- even if DD plays well. It has been that way all season.

At the end of regulation the score was tied at 59. What does that say about either team's offensive capabilities? There is still too much one-on-one basketball and not enough offensive sets for me. 24 turnovers and only 14 assists (that's 14 assists in 50 minutes of double overtime!). Diamond with a double/double (10 turnovers).

Next year it will be another excuse if the same thing continues. I hope not but every year for the past 5 years there as been a missing player or piece to us returning to a final 4

The darn 8 whole points in the first quarter is what killed us, although the other BS was icing on the beating.:loco:

You want to lay blame on Nared for missing a single free throw? Go for it...clueless! She happens to be our best free throw shooting player...our best clutch player, normally...and doesn't turn the ball over every time a slight breeze blows through the arena...she should have gotten more touches today! I saw some poor defense being played by several players not named Nared...who happens to be among the best rebounders this team has.
That breeze you felt was my point flying right over your head. Good job!!

Well, DD most likely will be missing next year-- and possibly MR, too. We'll be playing FR so the inconsistency won't be going away but the ceiling could be higher.

Our offense is built on NBA-style 1v1 on many possessions. That's not the way good teams play. Yea, take the rock to the rim when you can, but a good offense is more about screens and ball movement. DD has got to cut down on her turnovers. Another example of why we'll always be mediocre with Warlick: Just when it seemed like we were getting it together, we lay another egg.

See you're already setting it up for the excuses where other coaches would love to have the #1 recruiting class coming in with Te'a Cooper returning and one of the top JUCO Post who sat out a season. Holly gets top Talent because of what Pat has built (not saying some of the girls don't want to play for her) other coaches would love that same luxury.

You may be right but I hope not. I have been on Hollys rear end most of the early part of the season for not getting her assistants involved in the game. I think since the ND game she has changed her spots. I not see her talking to everyone except maybe Reaves who seems unconcerned to me. Holly has nearly quit taking 3 or 4 Timeouts into the locker room after the game and been more into the game. I am not sold on her but I can live with much of what she has done lately. The short bench and yes I said short bench is all on Holly. McGowan was dying to be a LV and we damn could have used her this year. Shaeffer has made a player out of her JMHO

Exactly and you don't think having her at 6'7" wouldn't have pushed Mercedes. That is my point! People were talking about her grades and etc and that she couldn't get in yet she originally committed to Cincy and then decided to Join Shaeferr and will be a huge boost for them the next couple of years when she could've been on our team. But her not being here will probably be blamed on coach Elzy also

You're welcome! Nared had 1 turnover today...she took 6 shots, while our All-American turnover machine took 28...with 10 turnovers...I see some selfish play by some of these so called great players ignoring teammates who look open in the corners, but chose to dribble around until they can make a crowd pleasing drive to the hoop to show off their moves! 14 assists in 50 minutes...24 turnovers...Houston, we have a problem!

Not by me my friend. Kyra could only do what Holly said do so she is not my scapegoat!!

McGowan would have made MR a much better player today if she had been a LV.

On a side note I would bet if I had anything worth betting that both DD and MR return.

So it's all Diamond's fault

DD can't throw a pass and then go catch it. Her weak handed teammates need to be ready and grab onto the ball.

Jaime was having an off day. Diamond was trying to put the team on her back. She is NOT selfish and if you truly think she is, you don't know what you're talking about. And again - OM was NOT blaming the loss on Jaime...simply saying she had an off day, which she did...it happens.

Gule you and I don't agree on much but you are damn right. DD will make a dumb TO or two but her teammates need to always be ready.

how in the hell could Nared do such a good job on Wilson and then look lost on D today?

I think they both return also but If I am Diamond would I really want to knowing that the fans blame me when we have games like this and I seem to be one of the few players who show up. Her desire to win is confused with being selfish when she seems at most times to be the only one who wants it.
