For me it was the second half collapse against Notre Dame. Even without RIckea that should never have happened. And MTSU sealed it.

After Rickea came back and was like a house afire and everyone else picked up, I had faint, probably stupid hope. But the thread was always so thin and it was expecting so much of Rickea.

There will be better games, both for Rickea and for the team. But the fact we're still capable of this crappy performance is just very disappointing a very likely to happen again.

Consistently underwhelming.

After a couple of years of taking the usual 30-50ish players (the ones we gripe about all the time now) they tried only taking higher ranked players they really wanted. Signed one is two years and she transferred. HS recruiting of elite players is a huge part of our problem.

But today didn't strike me as being about talent and recruiting. I didn't think the opposition had that much to do with it. We just got in a collective tailspin and no one could get us out. Not a good outing for anyone.

She had the portal the last 2 years to fix problems and she screwed the pooch on that see what we got

These type of performances will keep happening, we just don’t have enough to get it done. We need some lights out performances to beat good teams.

Jackson left the game shortly there after. I think Coach Harper realized Jackson is frustrated, not playing well and possibly ill. I knew we were in trouble when A@M went up 8 to 6 on a reverse layup where the ball handler clearly stepped out of bounds. I called it at the time, and asked how can an official miss that call. But in the end officiating was no worse than our play.

Another red flag ( for me) on Jackson is when her frustration boils over she usually tries to become the point guard and bring the ball up the court. That happened a couple of times before she took a seat. When she does that our offense looks even more woeful.

The early entrance of TK and JH (which we chewed over endlessly on this board) into the game forced Rickea onto the perimeter where she does sometimes try to do too much with the ball. Plus her outside shot is not falling the last couple of games. I thought the first time they took her out was right. KJH is usually pretty good at giving RJ little frustration breaks.

I also thought it was a good adjustment to go small and put RJ in the post alone. Again, she was making nice moves but could not get even layups to drop. And she was visably rattled.

But I thought not starting her and JP the 4th qtr and then taking RJ out immediately after the bad call was a little like punishment. And 1 rebound does suck. And the game was over like you said. But still I think I would have rather let her play thru some of it rather than yank her again.

Interesting to see how RJ bounces back. I can just hear Jerkala Jordan licking her chops.

I trust RJ playing more than I trust Kellie coaching/game planning. Make no mistake we are only as good as RJ is that day/night. Fair or not, at this time nobody else on the team can take a game over if she has a day like today.

I never see a play where they run it to get Rickea an open shot in her sweet spot. She’s always having to create herself. But I think hitting open 3’s would open things up for her but that’s not happening. If she has to take 30 shots I’ll live with that.

Not many predicted final 4, just a few over the toppers. But even the national media picked us Top 15. Again.

On paper, that was not unrealistic.

Not true. Jewel and Sarah just did that the other night against Florida. Rickea actually didn't have a great shooting game that night and only got 18 pts bc of late free throws. They just can't do it consistently.

It is hard for me to believe that where we once looked forward to final fours and shots at the national championship we now are wishing to just make a tournament that we have never missed being part of. The mighty have truly fallen and the road out looks very long and hurtful!
