Game Thread: Lady Vols @ Auburn: Thurs Jan 4, 7:02 p.m. CT (8:02 Eastern) ; SECN+ Win 75-67

Everyone talking about how bad this game was for the lady vols, but Auburn hasn't given up more than 67 points all season and that was a a loss early on to California. In their last 8 games which were all wins, they hadn't given up more than 62. We scored 75. Auburn's opponents average 22.1 turnovers per game and they average 11.1 steals per game. We had 23 turnovers with a point guard (Wynn) playing her second game ever as the backup point guard having 7 of those turnovers. The turnovers weren't as bad as they could have been. Considering all of the factors that mattered in this game, it was a good first win in the SEC. I don't care what team it is, when you are on an 8-game win streak playing on your home court you're going to be tough to beat. Auburn is going to surprise some teams this year.

SO letting them have two runs (16-6 and 12-6) to set u p a great coaching finish is wise in your book

not mine
The 16 to 6 yeah she should have slowed it down and regrouped. The 12 to 6 I can see letting it play out but that's just my opinion. She is the one coaching for her job this year.

show me that statistic...I'll wait,,,...

Rick Barnes team has shown the ability to withstand and upright themselves
we have shown multiple collapses in giving up runs and almost did it again tonight
Not looking for that stat again, we discussed it fully last year, posted the metric and you know it.

You're never going to let go of cliche ridden armchair coaching and that's fine. Wouldn't expect better.

Still doesn’t chew enough ass for my taste. Doesn’t even need to be her. She has a staff. Need at least one bad ass to set the record and expectations.
How do you know they don't? Apparently she chewed enough at halftime to get the job done.

Not all coaches do their chewing in public, tho I know that would make you feel better. We have no idea how much does or does not occur. Just bc you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Yep and it means just as much as your constant harping. As a matter of fact I may start calling myself coach!
case in point coach
Auburn called a timeout at 5:51 to stop a 13-3 run,,,28 seconds after their timeout, they ended the drought

look up at my preceding post

sorry folks
not raining on the parade
gonna take it to the couch and let the fans enjoy a very hard-worked for win

Coach Harper has a long way to go to impress this ol coach
But a win is a win and I am thrilled we got this one
Work on that turnover report… lots of data to mull through. That first half was terrible. Someone, flipped the switch. I’d give a lot of the credit to Powell, Rickea and Key.

KJH said in post game to Brian that she though Rickea was kinda just standing around at first (she was). Said she told her "just go get me one rebound". So she went and got 19.

I actually think KJH handles RJ very well. RJ said she appreciates the coaches being able to read when she needs a rest and finding ways to get her one. I believe there's alot of trust there, not sure Rickea has ever had that with one of her many coaches.

Right!!! Look at some of the earlier pages. The ones throwing praises now were posting the nastiest stuff early on in the game. Talk about having some fickle and/or bi-polar fans posting throughout the game.
Guilty. But that was def an ugly start.
Edit: Not nastiest, but def not happy. 😊

Kellie used to do that with Rennia when Rennia was off or not scoring the way Rennia thought she would score and it made an immediate impact. Most important part about being a coach is understanding your personnel and understanding what drives them or how to help them find their way through difficult situations.
