Lucy, he (meaning jumper) doesn't understand the game of basketball is a game of runs. You just have to be on the right side of it when it counts. Calling timeouts are not going to stop every team from starting, continuing or in this case he wanted a run ended. Sometimes it's best to let your players play through to find out what they are made of. Kind of a fight or flight scenario. I too am a coach, I just don't broadcast it at every opportunity like he who shall not be named. One lucky TO does not make an iron clad coaching commandment. So sayeth this not that old coach.
no he most definitely can, but when everything that he post is negative with little to no positive it becomes apparent his goal. i myself am a critic of kellie, but to diminish the win today is silly.BS. He just thinks it’s time to move on from Kelly. He can’t have an opinion that’s different from ours?

Statistically an aberration. Need to buckle down on the TOs.Good away win, Excellent play in the second half.
Some of the craziest team stats I've ever seen. Auburn had only 6 turnovers compared to our whopping 23 and, get this, took 30 more shots
than we did for the game. I can't ever remember one team, men or women, getting 30 more shots than its opponent. And yet we won the game by 8. Bizarre, or maybe not since we made 50 percent of our 48 shots and Auburn made only 33 percent of its 78 shots. So our good shooting and the fact that we shot 14 more free throws than Auburn were the difference. That Powell and Wynn were our 2nd and 3rd leading scorers was also surprising. Wynn, based on the highlights I saw, looked to be playing confidently. That is great to see, though she did have 7 turnovers and that is way too many.
Considering that all of the teams Auburn has played this year have an average of 22.1 TO's per game on average, 23 is not a bad number for us. A lot of those turnovers came from being aggressive to the basket and turned into dead-ball turnovers which didn't kill us. Auburn only managed 18 points off of turnovers on us unlike when we played Ohio State who scored 28 off of turnovers against us. Auburn turns teams over more than Ohio State so I do think this was a good win tonight considering what happened against Ohio State....J.S.Statistically an aberration. Need to buckle down on the TOs.
Thus aged well...This Rickea is all the team has talk is the dumbest argument to use at this moment. RJ is a lottery pick and one of the best in WBB no doubt. Yet tonight she isn’t carrying the team right now in any form or fashion. Her performance tonight is 3rd best on the team in the 1st half.
If it wasn’t for Kaiya Wynn and some of the timely baskets made by Jewel Spear there wouldn’t even be a chance for TN to win this game. Down by 8 points is the best they could hope for and again that’s due mainly in part to Wynn and Spear in addition to a handful of shots by Rickea.
Powell, Puckett, and Darby haven’t provided anything in the 1st half. That’s disappointing.
Don't know what has happened to Sara....Whew! And that's only the first game. Great to pull out the win but dang, those t.o.s. Also we just have to get more out of Puckett and Jewel.
I don't usually blame refs, but calls were horrible, mostly against us. However, that last foul we got that sent RJ to line was awful for them. Other than that, they really let Rickea get beat up. Including a literal gut punch that took her down and scared the s*it out of me. She played 36 mins! Don't think we wanted that but had to have it.
But the good news? Oh thank you sweet baby Jesus boy for bringing us Rickea Jackson. What a night on the boards! What a refuse to lose game takeover. She is just so special. Nice interview after the game with Brian, said she wanted to pull it out for her teammates. Also said she looks forward to seeing BK Sunday.
Wow JP again, what a great second half. And TK gets better every game, made a huge impact tonight.
We stumble forward!
You are missing the big win!I don't post for likes
23 turnovers 10 assists
And two players went into "wonder Woman" mode to save us
What am I missing?
someone else saw what I saw and started a thread with it
Key and Jackson turned the game .....
around in 2nd half.Key had more energy and her blocks really helped the cause in the 3rd quarter .Now she needs to get more in game shape and the team really needs to build off the 2nd half tonite.....www.volnation.com
You're a fan, I am a coach
We see two views
It turn on defense. I saw Kellie taking to the refs a few times. Tennessee got some fouls called on tigers in last half. They were no bad calls called on tigers it they was they way more bad calls on Tennessee. Tennessee which ING to a zone defense with key protecting the paint help,That influential type of personality is exactly what is needed. And if one was in the coaching mix, we would have seen it last night

Those who lambasted me for not appreciating the win,,See the last line.
I went through the same emotions those of you who watched the ENTIRE game without pausing and coming back later. . . I was disheartened by the opening half (14 turnovers) with no visible outrage at that happening,,,, down by 8 to a team that nearly every poster that made a prediction predicted a double-digit win,,,petrified of a loss's impact on our chances for the NCAA tourney,,,watching a coach do absolutely nothing (I could see) to work a set of refs that OBVIOUSLY had an agenda and was calling a very lopsided, almost to the point of cheating,,,game.
And all that above made me post in the time of emotion,,,for that I apologize to the site.
I have coached for 43 years and am respected by league directors, opposing coaches, referees, and most of this board. And I post as a coach, not a fan. . . I don't know you from Adam, you have come out of nowhere,,,,but if you are such a great coach yourself,,then show me a breakdown of this game,,,what adjustments made that changed the on-court play at halftime,,which turnovers were forced?..rewatch the game, as I will and post your observations and I will do the same,,,coach?
not at all, Mem.
I am thrilled we got this win that was slipping through our fingers
I just don't see how it turned and will re-watch it today to see if I can see exactly what turned it
