Nunley is their main pitcher she is from Soddy Daisy we chose Gabriel over her
I thought it was a rather lackluster win. The pitching and defense were fine. But the hitting, which has carried the team all year, was a bit anemic. The bats need to boom, because at some point the defense or pitching will falter - and if Rainey can't pitch it will be even more important for the bats to get going.
EG before she got hurt was a 16-17 year old on the USA junior national team the only high school player on the team....she also set the high school record for k's in a game with 34....she was a phenomenal pitcher before injuries....Nunley was a late bloomer and when the weekly's already had EG they tried to get Nunley but it was too late
is hitting .280/285, which is roughly 100 points ahead of Lockman. So it was a move that didn't make much sense, to be candid. It was almost genius--Lockman hit it well--but the bottom line was it was an out. I'm sure the coaches had their reasons and would be curious to hear them.
Great win!
Nunley gives up the 3 run homer and Kentucky experimenting with Prince may send them home early!!!
I was just thinking the same thing..UK doesn't score a lot of runs either so this might be a tough hole with 9 outs left
Well Kentucky may win yet but I have stubbornly maintained all season they were living a charmed life. LSU winning won't be a surprise to me.
LSU has as much talent as anyone. What's hurt them the most this year has been their defense. They can implode at anytime, and when they do it tends to snowball, forcing their pitchers to get 5 or 6 outs in an inning.
LSU was preseason #2 in SEC, UK was #8. UK finished #2, and LSU #7
Understood. I thought KY might be an easier game for TN simply because KY doesn't hit well and I thought our pitchers could hold them to 1 or 2 runs and our offense could muster 3 or 4. LSU is more dynamic. We'll see.
Have we definitely heard if Gaffin is out?
