Who is the left-hander for kentucky who's pitching now? She looks pretty tough--and we have a heavy left-hand hitting lineup. That's usually a good thing--except when you face a good lefty! Is Nunley righty or left?

Prince that is UK's #2 and Nunley is a righty

Nunley is their main pitcher she is from Soddy Daisy we chose Gabriel over her

EG before she got hurt was a 16-17 year old on the USA junior national team the only high school player on the team....she also set the high school record for k's in a game with 34....she was a phenomenal pitcher before injuries....Nunley was a late bloomer and when the weekly's already had EG they tried to get Nunley but it was too late

I thought it was a rather lackluster win. The pitching and defense were fine. But the hitting, which has carried the team all year, was a bit anemic. The bats need to boom, because at some point the defense or pitching will falter - and if Rainey can't pitch it will be even more important for the bats to get going.

Jeff at this point in the season you're only counting W's no matter how ugly it is haha

Yeah I didn't mean it that we chose wrong because Erin was definitely higher rated..Ialso didn't realize that we tried to get back in on Nunley though

Wonder why Prince is pitching today? She is good but I thought Nunley was clearly their one

is hitting .280/285, which is roughly 100 points ahead of Lockman. So it was a move that didn't make much sense, to be candid. It was almost genius--Lockman hit it well--but the bottom line was it was an out. I'm sure the coaches had their reasons and would be curious to hear them.

Great win!

McSwain's previous at bat where she struck out was not good, so I think coaches saw that and figured they'd roll the dice. I have no problem with that.

Mossonly threw 28 pitches and Gabriel tossed 80 today..so Moss will probably get the start and Erin can come in some if needed

Nunley I believe pitched at least two of the wins at LSU so LSU has seen her. They'll save her for TN. Had SC won over TN, KY may have pitched Nunley.

Everybody's jockeying for FL. Who will pitch against FL? You almost have to hold FL to one or two runs if you hope to have a chance of beating them.

Yep, that's why the Gaffin injury really hurts us..good bat and she was good in relief

Nunley in the game now. LSU threatening, first and second, one out.

Edit - as soon as I hit enter, 3-run HR for LSU off Nunley.

Nunley gives up the 3 run homer and Kentucky experimenting with Prince may send them home early!!!

I was just thinking the same thing..UK doesn't score a lot of runs either so this might be a tough hole with 9 outs left

This wouldn't be too much of an upset really if LSU won & knocked UK out. They are what 2 spots apart in the rankings? LSU will be a tough matchup for us tomorrow if that's the case. LSU was ranked top 10 pre-season so they were expected to be a really good team anyhow.

Well Kentucky may win yet but I have stubbornly maintained all season they were living a charmed life. LSU winning won't be a surprise to me.

We may get to play LSU and get beat but I really had rather take my chances that way because Nunley would be pumped for us. Her family has felt slighted for 4 long years!!
Just my 2 cents worth!

LSU has as much talent as anyone. What's hurt them the most this year has been their defense. They can implode at anytime, and when they do it tends to snowball, forcing their pitchers to get 5 or 6 outs in an inning.

LSU was preseason #2 in SEC, UK was #8. UK finished #2, and LSU #7

Understood. I thought KY might be an easier game for TN simply because KY doesn't hit well and I thought our pitchers could hold them to 1 or 2 runs and our offense could muster 3 or 4. LSU is more dynamic. We'll see.

I'm with you. I believe I'd rather for us to have to face UK instead of LSU but doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Have we definitely heard if Gaffin is out?

I've not heard but I'd say she most likely will be out. I wouldn't be surprised if she has a broken bone from that hit. Looks like it got her straight on the lower arm just above the wrist. She was in an awful lot of pain.

I'd say it has to be at least a bone bruise/contusion. Probably keeps her out the rest of the torurney just for that. If something is broken, then of course she's lost for the rest of the season. We don't need that because she's so versatile for us. Playing a solid RF & relief/starting pitcher to boot. It would hurt us a lot.
