Game Thread Lady Vols vs Auburn in the SEC Tournament

I haven't watched a lot of Lady Vol basketball this year so excuse me if there is an obvious answer of which I am unaware. Russell is a 6'6" post player (like 4" taller than any one else on the court) that shoots 60% from the field (going on what announcers said) and she doesn't get a touch in the second half unless its on an offensive rebound. Why are there not designed sets to get this woman the basketball in the low post. I mean she never missed a free throw while I was watching so it can't be a hack a Shaq issue. What gives regular posters?

She redeemed herself from the last game winning shot she missed. That was an opportunistic shot and not what was drawn up. That's the best way to hit a game winner. I do have to give Holly credit for going back to the Zone on Auburn's last possession. However, had they not gone away from it to begin w/ they likely wouldn't have needed a last minute shot to win. This team is crazy. I hope they don't have to play anyone else who presses.

Yeah, I wouldn't take a risk if it's as painful as it looked. Staley was almost giddy in interviews. A'ja came to play... unless they think they can win without her against a tired LVs team that didn't look sharp tonight.

From what I have seen they don't run a lot of sets period. For anyone. They are trying to move to a motion offense but it has been a process and for whatever reason come the second half Russell is just in for rebounding purposes. She has to move to get the ball and generally she just doesn't.

Most teams know we cant shoot the ball and they cover MR up. She also is not the best at getting open and plays lazy a lot as well as no leaping ability. All that plus the fact we are not a good passing team. JMHO:crazy:

Do you think Dunbar, KK, and Harris would have fared well against Auburn's press tonight? Putting KD in for that last offensive possession might have been reasonable, then taking her out when Auburn called TO after Davis' basket, but that's the only time I would have used her. KK and Harris would have been instant TO's.

The team is made up of a bunch of no name type players. However they play HARD and are well coached. Plus, these no name players are turning into big name players. The truth is , the mens team actually has a good coach the lady vols , well not so much. Hollys team is no better from the 1st game to this game. I think they have gotten worse. Its almost embarrassing to watch. It looks like they have never held a practice. The same mistakes every game. They look lazy out there.

I love Dunbar but she is way to slow to play any at all in this game. If she had the shot Davis had i would have been ok with her taking it though.

Holly is working on Russell getting the ball in set plays as soon as she figures out what set plays are. Looks like they are trying to play street ball.

Holly stated after the game she told the guards to attack the basket and that was the game plan in the 2nd half. 1) attack and get fouled 2) attack and pass to the open player .
