The score was 43-41 (miss. state) with 7:50 to go in 4th. We scored 2 points over the next 6-7 minutes. Last I checked we had 43 points. We will get beat in the NCAA tourney by the first fairly good offensive team we face.
This team would have been champions with Pat, this is all on Holly being inept, it is asinine to blame that many all americans. With a real coach this could have been a great year.I disagree. Two Elite 8s and 1 Sweet 16 in 3 years doesn't happen by being lucky. There really isn't much talent on this team. I know some were highly rated out of high school but I don't see it in their games. Not one player would start on any Pat Summit team because she has great players.
The MSU coach was smart. He had his girls play a physical game. He knew we had already played two and his team only one. The refs let him get away with it.
I saw clearly what people have been talking about all year on offense...talented players playing schoolyard ball. Always looking for the 1 on 1 like they're Jordan or something, complete selfishness on offense. Eventually that's going to lose against a true team, ask the Bulls through the first half of the 90's when it was all Jordan doing stuff himself and my Bad Boys took them to school just about every time.
The bad team showed up tonight. State is nowhere as good as A&M guess they took it all out of us.

tAMu has no one on their team that can get hot like Victoria Vivians and just light up from all over the court. She hit some ridiculous shots tonight. Both teams have solid, heady point guards, but Dillingham is the X-Factor with all of the things she brings to the court (note to Andraya Carter - THAT is what a defensive specialist is. And she's not a liability on offense either).
Really impressed with Mississippi State's defense tonight. This game exposes Tennessee's problems at the PG spot. None of the 4 PGs did anything to break down MState's defense. Jordan has no feel on the jump shot, and she can't even come close from 5 feet. Cooper played out of control. Middleton was useless. Carter might as well have not played. Just bad bad bad guard play all around.
To tell the truth when you get past Diamond and Graves not a lot of talent on this team. Graves had a bad night looked like fatigue got her. Russell is a work in progress someone was way to kind to call her the top player in her class. I think there were a lot of players in that class better than her.
