Game Thread Lady Vols vs South Carolina

Graves never in her lifetime could handle Wilson, couldn't score enough to half way balance her out and clogged up the paint.

Meanwhile Dunbar sat and sat and sat and sat.

Should have rotated Moore on Wilson with nared/dunbar banging her at every turn. Instead Holly expected Graves to shut her down?

Dismal.

Well DD scored a team high 21 points and we still lost. Her shooting a lot and being in the game a lot is a recipe for failure. There is more to winning a basketball game than just shooting. She got a couple of good offensive rebounds and then she just stopped. If she had continued helping us do that we might have had a chance.

Sometimes it seems like were watching a replay of the same game. Same turnovers. Same ugly shots. Holly in the same clothes. It is like every game is the same.

Deja vu will continue with the presser. Same look of befuddlement. Same sad head shake. Same "I don't know..."

I think it will take a huge drop in attendance to get a change. I know it is fun to go to games but that is quickly changed and losing at home is now happening a lot more often. When Summit was coach a home game was a win 97 percent of the time.

I really hate this for Holly. She really cares for these players, UT and the game. It must be hard to come to terms that she is not a head coach. I hope she makes the correct decision and step down or maybe move back to an assistant role. I agree we need to make a change but please remember she is a human being that is given her all to Tennessee.

Our offense is horrible. The announcers kept mentioning the lack of movement, how hesitant the players are, too much dribbling, bad passes, how after all this time we are still unable to attack the zone.

I could hear the frustration in the announcer's voice. It's just sad to watch. The team has no confidence. No system. No chemistry. It keeps getting worse. It seems like something really bad has to happen before a change is made and that!/ unfortunate.

I just wonder what we do in practice????

No improvements. No progress. Just consistently bad. Consistently.

No Holly starts putting DD in, we get behind, she defers to her more and we get behind more. That's the way it's been in a lot of games. DD is not the answer Holly! It's good coaching!

Don't know why you dislike DD so much, but without her we probably don't score 30 pts, someone has to shoot.

I don't see how wanting a new coach and wanting better for the team and the program makes you a fake fan. just because Holly was a former lady Vol doesn't mean i have to continue blindly supporting her and acting like everything is okay when it's not.

She needs to play more not less, imho.

But balance her with an outside shooter. Nared isn't it, neither is reynolds, or carter.

And get her a post who can catch an entry pass....

Take away her 25 points (21 scored and 4 courtesy of her 2 assist) and we only have 31 points. People keep wanting to make it about Diamond (she has her issues but great coaches correct her problems) when the problem is clearly the head coach.

We scored about one fifth of our points for the GAME in the last minute and half.

Not playing Dunbar on a team that cannot score is beginning to look more and more dumb. At the least she should have gotten lots more playing time in earlier games to see what she can do. What is the most she has played this year? We have the one of the lowest scoring UT teams in recent memory--and one of our better shooters, maybe our best, doesn't play. Somebody media guy always asks Warlick about Dunbar, and she always responds, "Yea, I know I gotta get her in...." I guess she's worried about messing with the great chemistry that powers us to 50 freakin' points every game, baby!

Just caught a glimpse of how clueless a lot of our fans are in the stands- we're down with no chance to win as the clock turns zero and Deshields knocks down the 3 to an eruption of applause. Do these people not even realize how pathetic we just looked in a loss?

They're a bunch of kids suiting up to play basketball for Tennessee. I think supporting them isn't a lack of awareness. Everyone knows this is one of the worst years in modern program history -- maybe the worst. No need to take that all out on the players. Give 'em a break. They know just how people feel by now.

Deshields is a good player but she really doesn't have a role on this team that suits her style of play. We really don't push the ball enough. We get in a half court offense and dribble out the clock then throw something up.
I suspect all these players would be a lot better and have a far better basketball IQ with another coach or I expect they would be gone.

I was greatly pleased with Russell for the most part. She got tagged with some cheap calls on fouls. But, if the pass to her isn't perfect, she boots it... :(
