Let me clarify one point about DeShields: I have no problem with her "doing her thing" if her thing is playing good basketball--making shots and making good passes-- and being an enthusiastic leader of the team. She has done her "thing" in most games this year, contrary to what lindsay says--and her thing has been bad---very poor shooting and lots of turnovers. If doing your "thing" is 5-15 shooting and 7 TOs, then the coaches are not going to let you continue to do your thing. That is why DeShields no longer starts.
Is she the most talented offensive player we have? In terms of her skill set, absolutely. We need her to be active and take shots and make passes--but we need good results. It's all about results. You have to make shots, you have to make good passes and not turnovers, you have to work hard on defense, and you have to make good decisions. In the third quarter, she makes a basket and than commits an absolutely stupid foul at the midcourt line, her third, and has to sit down. She's been going that kind of "thing" all year. DD seems soft to me--no mental toughness. We have so totally lost our mental toughness. We don't have it in our coaches and we don't have it in our players. A player like Diana Taurasi would laugh at DD---difference between a great player and totally tough vs. someone who is not. No smarts, no toughness: Welcome to UT basketball.

Does anyone know if the @delinodeshields Twitter account is really him? If so the wall appears to be coming down.
Some guy on Facebook just said that there are two underclassmen that played tonight that won't be here next year (didn't name them).....I know it's just rumors but I wouldn't doubt it!
Yeah that's him haha
My guess for this off season truly guesses
Diamond leaves to go play pro ball
Nared transfers back to the state of Oregon to play OSU maybe
Dunbar transfers back to a midwest school
Middleton transfers home to MTSU (Becomes a stud)
Jones- Gives up playing basketball...starts her work life since she has already graduated
I could also see MeMe transfer to MTSU would not surprise me
Diamond pouts too much and hangs her head when she makes mistakes. I can understand that, but everybody makes mistakes, even the great ones. However she did that at UNC as well, but she was amazing there. I don't know what's going on with her at Tenn., unless it's the coach. I've seen her look not exactly pleased with Warlick in some huddles. After this game, I bet she wished she'd transferred to SC, I know I would. I think their system is better for her than the Lady Vols.
That is his real account, I follow him on twitter. That's the first I've seen him unload on holly like that, not that she doesn't deserve it. he makes good points, which is what a bunch of us have already noticed for awhile now and it's also what the recruits are noticing
I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Cooper, DeShields and maybe Dunbar. Could you blame any of them? I know Cooper is very close to her father. He coached Diamond and Te'a in AAU. They look way better than how they look now. I know he can't be happy.
I remember Holly making a comment a couple of years ago and looking back on it, it really underscores why this team is so inept on offense. She said something to the effect of players coming out of high school are really mainly focused on their offensive game and much less focused on the defensive part of it and she has to spend most of her time teaching them how to play defense. Makes me wonder if she just doesn't even bother coaching any kind of offensive scheme or plays and just sticks with defense. She's already admitted a few times that they don't even practice any kind of offense.
They just said at half-time of the South Florida/Louisville game that South Carolina is the First team since Auburn in the 1980's to beat Tennessee there straight games. The changing of the guard seems to be almost complete.
If Diamond does transfer, does she have to sit out another year?? I just don't see her wanting to sit another year..Maybe she does go pro....
