Were shooting horrible should be up by over twenty. I think the defense has been fabulous haven't really taken that much advantage of the great defense.

Smothering defense played by the Lady Vols so far this afternoon.
Stanford 5 of 21 in fga at the half, 23.8%
We're at 35.3%. Not great but good enough to put us up 12. We're also 1 of 12 from 3pt range.
I suppose if Stanford was scoring we would be complaining about the offense but air tight defense can cure a lot of ills.

This same full-court d - lesser teams have cut through it like butter. This is why Holly (and Pat before her) preaches "effort" so much.
Keep it up, LVs! Hope they find there 3 range next half.

Holly has to figure out how to work the three into her offense. She has great shooters show up and then when they play for her awhile they can't shoot threes. There is something going on there.

Well, our ball movement was much better--but our shooting remains sketchy. Middleton and Massengale missed everything, Jones not very good, and we only ended up with 27 points--which is a pace for 54 for the game. Not exactly an offensive juggernaut, but we are at least playing smarter on offense. But in the end we've got to make shots. Curious to see what our first-half shooting percentage is. I like NOT starting Massengale, bringing her off the bench--she seems more engaged than she often does.

They aren't going to let us get the ball inside. A total collapse on any player getting it in there. We haven't tried to force anything so far was glad to see us passing it back out. Wish we were shooting well we'd be up by 25.

I didn't believe the great ball movement. I haven't seen that before. We didn't force anything inside. No one can shoot an open jump shot but we are moving the ball. I was surprised to see Graves playing out at the foul line like she did a lot in high school. She hit a few clutch shots out there we need to get her more looks from there.

Our coaches--and I include PS in this, for sure--have ruined the offensive confidence of many players over the years. That has to change. Carter is not confidently offensively right now--that is obvious. She passed up a wide-open shot in the first half and ended up throwing up a terrible shot in traffic. Jones has confidence but not the highest basketball IQ. Graves showing some confidence--and NEEDS TO KEEP IT. Massengale HAS to hit threes, as she is our most dependable shooter from range. I don't think she made an outside shot in the first half (did score on a layup.).

Reynolds can't shoot, Carter can't shoot. Those two girls have to get better need to do extra work on their shooting whatever it takes. Jasmine a little off today as well.

We are 1-11 on three-point shots. We have to do better than that. We shot 35 percent in the first half, I see. That's not bad (for us)--and we need to at least maintain that percentage; otherwise, Stanford could climb back in this game. If we can shoot better from outside, Izzy might get a little more space inside--but that's only if we prove we can knock down shots.
