Game Thread Lady Vols vs Texas

Explain to me where I said losing to UTC is acceptable. Losing is part of the game. That's reality. Parity is here to stay. What do you expect to do about it? Magically make the majority of teams that have gained a great deal of competitive ground in women's basketball over the past ten years less competitive? How is that good for the sport?

Sounds good. Baylor, Stanford, Uconn, Notre Dame, maybe Louisville. Yes parity is here my friend, only name is excluded is the Lady Vols. And with our talent there is no reason for us to not be there, heart, a competitive bunch of ladies, losing isn't an option, lady vols basketball.

coming from a loser who cares. lol

Refusing to engage in hysterics and coach bashing doesn't make me a loser. It makes me reasonable. Sorry if hyperbolic ranting is what you expect from those you call "fans." I won't engage in that foolishness, but I will gladly laugh at those who do.

I agree and that is not acceptable at all. I say until she has proven to be out of her league (which a 60-15 record seems to be damn good and reason enough for her to stick around) we as fans need to relax and let her do her job.

Looks pretty solid, until you consider she inherited a roster of talent 99.9% of coaches would love to have. There are many very average coaches who would have comparable accomplishments with the number of HS All Americans she has had on the roster. A good coach likely would have been to a Final Four by now. Out-talenting a team does not make a great coach, and Holly isn't even able to do that all the time (UTC). When she actually has to coach against better teams, the Lady Vols are consistently at a schematic disadvantage.

Coaching is already difficult with the expectation of a National Championship every year. But then to have your every decision dissected by those that supposedly are your support system is disrespectful, cruel and down right disgusting in my opinion.

Cruel? Disgusting? Seriously? When you are the coach of a high profile program, you are subject to more scrutiny. I'm sure Holly was aware of this when she took the job, but you don't seem to be. I haven't seen anyone attack her character, but any criticism related to coaching is fair game. That's how forums like this work. If you are that "disgusted", I suggest you not read here anymore and definitely don't visit the football board. If you want to stick your head in the sand ignoring the coaching deficiencies and blindly follow Holly that is certainly your prerogative as a fan. Just don't expect everyone to be on board....

When they can not counter your statements with facts, the less intelligent quickly resort to name calling. They fail to realize that there are going to be some bad nights. Just because the ladies put on that hallowed Lady Vol jersey does not mean that the other team is going to roll over and play dead. Coaches make mistakes. Even Pat did a few times. It is what it is. The lady vol forum has its share of the legion of the miserable just as the football forum. They only exist to gripe, moan, and complain. And waste oxygen.

Just saw the lineups for Texas game and Harrison is not starting. Burdick and Graves in starting lineup.

Geno would not lose to Chattanooga....Ever.

What a ridiculous comment. Never say never. Anything can happen. I guarantee there were some UConn fans who said a team with KML and Stewart would never lose to a weak Stanford team, and look what happened.

I hope Holly actively coaches this game. Really need to see some improvement in her game coaching.

I saw the article too. They might be just probable starters

I don't think the starting lineup has been announced. The starters for the UTC game were listed as the probable starters for this game. That doesn't mean those listed will be the actual starters tonight. I would suggest not starting Burdick; however, she's generally a very good rebounder, which will be needed against Texas. I would start Massengale over Reynolds and keep my fingers crossed that Harrison is back. It's going to be difficult (but certainly not impossible) to win without Harrison.

All of this coming from a person who has never coached a basketball game in his miserable lifetime. If criticizing the coaching staff of your supposedly favorite team is helping you sleep at night, then by all means do you. However, you and a few others on here (mainly armchair and pat4life) seem to think that the University or society for that matter values your opinion or what you think is best for the team. You 3 are the laughing stock of this forum. You for 3 years now have whined, complained, b****ed and moaned about how horrible of a job Holly has done. Well contrary to what you think or believe the University is pleased with her performance thus far. As are the real LVs fans. Stop being a douche bag and being a negative nancy. Again I state, when was reaching final fours the pinnacle of a season in Tennessee standards? You constantly complain about how high the bar is set for the LVs, yet you continue to lower it at the benefit of your argument. Please do us all a favor and take your crybaby butt somewhere else!

Losing AT Stanford is basically the same as losing at UTC....:loco:

A loss is a loss. Couch it however you like. UTC played extremely well Wednesday night and UT didn't. Some of the blame can be laid at the coach's feet, but not all of it. Not even close to all of it. At the end of the day, the coach isn't the one missing layups, not getting rebounds, or sitting on the bench injured (not that Harrison's injury is anyone's fault (it isn't), but her presence and leadership are sorely missing).

Stanford is not a Top 10 caliber team. I'm not sure they are a Top 20 caliber team when all is said and done. Texas beat them at Stanford, yet UConn couldn't manage it. Stanford then turned around and lost to North Carolina, nearly lost to New Mexico, and struggled for much of the game against Hawaii last night.

You are trying to convince yourself but "YOU can't handle the truth" A GREAT MOVIE LOL

Tennessee has talent and experience and working in the same scheme for years, still it's not working. Go figure

Stanford has talent but young and if I was hearing the announcers correctly Tara has installed a new scheme, not the triangle to take advantage of her team strengths cause that's what good coaches do. You should not have to be coaching for decades to understand that??

So once that develops later in the season there should benefits as we saw glimpses against Uconn.

Correct statement. Actual fans are fed up with the malcontents, the whiners, and the s***-stirrers who throw temper tantrums every time something doesn't go their way.

Let's talk basketball keep the insults unless you square off face to face!!

Basketball tough guy

I think that you are under the impression that you know more than you actually do. Wednesday's game was not Holly's best coaching effort. A good deal of the blame can be laid at her feet, but not all of it, and certainly not enough to warrant kicking her to the curb. Get over yourself. Either support the team and the coaching staff, or find another team whose record and style are more to your liking. It's really quite simple, actually.
