I wouldn't say cheating, but Geno carries a lot of gravitas, and I feel the refs will be intimidated by him and the 50/50 calls will go UCONN'S way. 71-year-Old coach since the late 80s of UConn vs a 1st year Power 4 coach, refs are human. I expect it in games like this where you are coaching against a juggernaut and every BBall fan knows it and guess what all refs are rabid BBall fans. Thats why they do it staying on the court being a part of it. It is what it is, you just keep plugging until you get this nuanced upper hand.

He got hand.

In the last 4 games, Sara has played for 56 minutes and scored a total of 5 points...She got a few rebounds, but damn guys, this is not acceptable at any level of basketball.

If this trend continues for her, I don't like our chances against UConn....

Come on Sara....Rise Above It!

I don't understand pinning the outcome of this game on any one player. Particularly one who only averages 13 minutes per game.

I feel like this is one of those games were its they got Bueckers and we dont...we have to find somebody who is willing to make life hard for her WITHOUT fouling take on that challenge force Strong and everybody else to beat us......we cant have her scoring at will and dishing getting teammates going....
We got Cooper and they don't. I also believe Jewel will have big game. GBO.

I believe that UCONN will likely win but don't have the heart to predict the score. I did want to mention the keys to the game for the LVs to have a chance. Each game, the three main variables in our system are 3-point shooting percentage, offensive rebounds, and turnover margin advantage over opponent. In games with weak teams, we can rely on just one of these. For the top teams, we need to have the advantage in two of these with the third being at least fairly even. I think the most likely advantage will be offensive rebounds, as this is not one of their top strengths. The second is that we absolutely need to hit our threes, which helped us stay with Texas and LSU despite not have a big turnover margin advantage. I doubt we will have a turnover advantage with UCONN, but if we do and the other two factors are positive, LOOK OUT!

I dropped out of the game predictions a while back so I'll stay away from that, but I will say what I hope to see tonight is the Lady Vols just going all out for an energetic, focused 32-35 minutes. Even the greatest pro teams often have trouble maintaining intensity and focus for 40, so I'd be happy with less if they're going hard for those.

I think I most want to see everyone moving with purpose -- or as Pat would say, "with a sense of urgency." And I want them to be decisive, not hesitant, and to trust their bodies and coaching, being neither fearful of fouling nor missing a shot.

Just play, and try to have fun! And if they lose after doing all that, that's quite okay. I'll be happy for them if they can go home tomorrow night knowing they gave their all.

GO LADY VOLS!

I'm making the trip for the game. Would like to stay downtown and walk to TBA/FCC. What hotels do you suggest? I've been to Knoxville a few times but wasn't sure which would be best. Thanks in advance.

We need to see some sort of adjustments from this staff. That's one of them.
I heard Kim say in the post on this thread,,, "If I don't get them (technicals) they're not allowed to get them"

I do agree with not allowing/authorizing a player to get a tech,,,but how far will you be bullied by refs before you show them you will take a T for your girls?

She has a lot to learn
Refs can and will bully teams/coaches/players and walking/looking away sounds "sweet" but to one that enjoys intimidating, it is ineffective.

Mom told me as a child, just ignore them (bullies). But bullies see that as fear.

Mike Tyson once said, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face"...Once I learned to punch back, the intimidation went to other targets

Glaring weakness for us that is the Achilles against a skilled team is the opponents ability to blow right through our fullcourt pressure for easy layups and 2 on 1 plays against us in the at the wrong end of the floor. Two -three passes and and layup. That is where we give up enormous points against the best teams.

Imo the press is a losing proposition in terms of points gained loss. It’s positive is that it can exhaust other teams by fourth quarter IF it works. I fear U C has ball handlers , coaching scheme, and talent to blow us up on our full court press and it will cost us the game.

I’d we can control that aspect of the game and/or minimize UC points off press break LV can win it. We shall see

Coach, it is not her personality to scream and yell at a ref.....It would take "a major obvious favored call" by the refs to get Coach Kim to go ballistic at them, and then it would probably not be enough for you....

She's in a new league for her and she has not got a lot of SEC Capital built up yet....Geno has lots of earned National Capital, so he will get the favored calls, just the way it is for this year....

With Puckett, Tess, and Spear, not shooting real well these last few games, this may be a very long night for the home team....Not sure they can rise above it.

Like my old employer always told me, bet like someone has a gun to your head, you will usually choose wiser than betting with your heart/feelings. I have no idea what the odds are for tonight, but the smart money has to be on the Huskies.

Seems to me she expresses herself firmly with the officials at times. I see nothing to complain about to this point. The bad whistle comments are consistent message board complaints every game.

Just like I expect players to grow and work on their faults/weaknesses,,,I have the same measure for coaches...Maybe even moreso since I am a coach....And working the refs is just as much a part of coaching as timeouts, reading opportunities, subbing, calling sets, etc...GT, I have known refs at every level including this level and one thing all of them respect is a coach who they can't push around and they all hate "pleaders",,,none of my reffing friends have ever said otherwise

Her Capital began the day she signed to coach the most historically elite program in women's BB,,,nuff said
