I think Holly went to the players she trusted the most in the second half of the game. She sure didn't want the game to be this close still we won by 12 and played offensively about as bad as we ever will.

whew wee...very fortunate...many lapses and just enough offensive/defensive spurts to come out on top...that won't do...looked like several had lead in their tenny rubbers and several had slight cases of Bball dementia...gotta clean it up quick or won't be at #12 very long...:)

Not a very impressive win. Tonight the ladies had a hard time hitting their butts with both hands. The defense was there and really saved us. They just missed too many shots even easy ones.

Its a long season, and Holly finished the game which should be her starting five: E, Annie, Nared, Davis and Russell and most played over 30 minutes. It wasn't our best performance but we lost games like this one last year. A win. I'll take it.

A nice way to get her starters quality minutes. Three games in three days, the bench better be ready.

We didn't take a step forward nor did we take a step backward, we played an inspired WSU team, solid methodical win. Mane, I love our guards. Reynolds who?

The 3/2 zone flummoxed the team just like in the losses to lesser teams last year.Also by my count they missed 21 layups,hit 17% from 3 point land,made 20 of 34 free throws for an average of58 % and had 15 unforced turnovers.The 1/3/1 zone also gave them some problems.Nared had a horrid game Very little energy in 1st half .Had they played just a good team tonite it would have been a loss.

Some bright spots .....I thought the freshmen played well again.I continue to be very impressed with the vision of both freshmen guards.Hayes should start .....end of story.

Annie's speed changed the game, imho.

Hope they got their bad game out of the system for the year.

Not an outstanding performance by any means,but we did get an answer to who picks up the slack when Nared has a bad shooting night. Davis,Hayes,and Westbrook were the difference tonight along with the steady performance by Russell. Good to know,but defense and free throw shooting must improve. Remember that Wichita State had eight seniors,so they were experienced and controlled tempo most of the night. Still a good learning experience for our youngsters.

Defense, Rebounding and Good Guard play wins Championships, actually I didn't like the rebounding or the players not boxing out. We need to become a more physical team, aye Bridgette, Lady Vols basketball. Rennia, just needs to get stronger.

We didn't impose our will this game, with sound fundamentals but these team looks like it plays better scanner report defense.

A win!

Not a good performance tonight. This kind of play will get us beat quite a lot this year. Distracted by the swaying eagle's nest atop her head (and I only half-kid), Nared was terrible--couldn't make anything. I tried to warn you early-on. Our three-point shooting was awful--3--12--and we were equally awful from the free-throw line. As I said months ago, three-point shooting is going to be a problem for us as we have one player--Nared--who can shoot the trey, and if she is off we have no one dependable. The trey is a big-part of the game nowaday; if you can't hit at least 5 a game, your opponent will.

And why is Russell playing 36 minutes against a winless Wichita State? Mark it: she will wear down before the season is three-quarters gone. I thought Greene was good? Saw her tonight for the first time and didn't see much, perhaps because she only played four minutes. Lack of depth is an obvious issue, too. Warlick better understand that Russell needs more rest. Thirty-six minutes in an early-season game against a winless team is not smart.

Davis does have loads of potential if she can polish her game, and I expect that she can. Hayes? Like Cooper before her, she is built for open-court play; I don't see her being enormously helpful in half-court games and facing zone defenses, and we will again see lots of zone defenses. Still, she will play a lot and learn to adjust.

We may have lost this game last year. The freshman scored 36 points, did not have this last year.

Russell played a crap load of minutes last year arm and they definitely need to be able to break down a zone defense

MR has no business playing 35 minutes. She takes plays off and too often just takes up space. More is less for her....hello Holly, get a clue.

I'm no CHW supporter but she did manage to get these freshmen to sign on the line. Davis looks like a Meek and Westbrook and Hayes are special talents too.

Nared will get her shooting eye back when she quits trying to balance that sack of flour
on her head.

No, we haven't had this level of guard play in a long time and they are only Freshman.

You can see Westbrook, figuring the game out, cerebral. She's gonna be nice.

Yes, the compete. I like that from the young ladies.

We were stagnant tonight offensively and defensively, but they found a way to win, that's encouraging. Russell needs as many minutes as she can get, she hasn't played in the fourth quarter in the previous two games.

Relax.

Davis is the best freshman rebounder I remember in a while. Still not as smooth as she will get. I think as the year goes along she will be a 3 point shooter as well. Her passing and TOs need cleaned up but she is aggressive and we needed that forever. MR has got to hit the FTs and everyone else as well. Winning performance but nothing to write home about. Westbrook smooth as silk and I would like to see her a little more aggressive but she came in as someone who had rather pass than shoot and that is a rarity. JMHO

I like the mental toughness being showed by the Freshmen too, they didn't have their best game, but they didn't pout or stop playing hard.

WE are young. WE have senior leadership but we are still a young team.

To stand 6'6", Russell sure gives up a lot of layups. I guess she's afraid of getting into foul trouble, but she's got to be an inforcer! MeMe played pretty good, especially on defense, but once she came out she wasn't seen again.
I don't think Holly has it in her to take the freshmen out and let them know, that turnovers are not a part of the game plan.

MR's footwork is not very good and it shows when she is trying to move. I have been watching her every year since she has been here and rarely do you see any daylight under her shoes when she needs to jump. We need her to hit those layups and hooks and the rebounds badly. She has got to hit the FSs and everyone else does too. JN just not herself tonight.

We won by 12 on the 3rd quarter play alone. CHW has got to show some moxy and sit the starters and run with the whole bench when they play like that!

Meme turned the tide when she started the third and was subbed way too fast...Kortney hits a putback in the first half, looks pretty sharp and was playing the boards and was subbed way too fast.

I give this game a C-
