Game Thread: Tennessee (15-8, 8-3 SEC) versus No. 1 South Carolina (23-0, 10-0) @ Food City Center, 2/15, 7:00 PM (EST), ESPN

Outside of Spears and Jackson, where does UT go for consistent production? SC just has so many weapons...Cardoso didn't even play the other night, and they still put up 83 on UConn. Watkins is a dynamo that reminds me a great deal of Horston, only more disciplined and talented; she was dunking the ball in high school! And what coach wouldn't love to have Paopao on her/his team? Staley has built a dynasty in Columbia, and I believe her team will make an emphatic statement on The Summit tonight...SC 92 UT 59
People on here don’t like Darby but I think we would need her to hit about 5 3’s which she’s capable of.

Getting ready to head to the killing field. What I really want tonight is just keep playing hard and don't get too discouraged. The game at Vandy Sunday is huge.
Enjoy the game. Hope it’s entertaining to watch.

Really good point about Vanderbilt. Frankly that is a much “bigger” game in terms of the season and SEC standings. I hope they have enough left in the tank and reserve some energy if the game gets out of hand early.

She'll need to find a way to get open. I don't think SC double teams and they play man to man, so she'll have either Kitts or Hall shadowing her.

If they really never double team then RJ should take all our shots. I feel like we should use RJ like Dalton Knecht, get her the ball in her favorite spots, if you get one vs one just go, and if they double her, pass and find the open shooter.

While that is true, SC is big and quick, and Darby will either have to be shooting well beyond the 3 to get clean looks, or we will have to set some screen plays to get her open.

I remember last year when we played them, Striplin made 3 threes, and Cardoso finally blocked her shot. That’s how long and quick SC is. Even the slowest players can be effective.

Only thing there, is SC will try and get a charge, and RJ has been prone to that being against her this season several times. We’re gonna have to have others to step up outside of RJ.

True story. I like Tess and hope she sticks around another year and finds her shooting form. But she’s not able to get it off against good defenses unless we get out on transition and you know SC is going to find the shooters

It seems like Tess tried to speed up her shot this year and that’s caused the lower percentage. I’m surprised at the amount of airballs we see from her.

That’s why u set it up, if Rickea is killing them in the paint and mid range, the defense will collapse and she can kick it out, Darby had a lightning quick release so she can get the shot off.

That happens when she gets the ball beyond the 3 point line and five drives to the hoop, if she stays in the mid range area or someone sets screens for her to get open that won’t be a problem.

That's what they're probably banking on, because Rickea by herself isn't going to outscore the entire SC team. It wil be like the ND game where Hidalgo went off, but they shut everyone else down. And Tennessee's shooters haven't done a great job when they've got a body on them the whole game not looking to cheat on a double.

Cardoso isn't exactly slow. For a 6'7 player, she's pretty darn mobile and recovers quickly. I remember last year vs. Arkansas, Barnum had a great pump fake, got Cardoso off her feet, drove to the basket and pulled up for a short jumper before Boston could close out on her..,only for Kamila to show up from off the screen to block her jumpshot from behind.

I hope that Kellie doesn't expect Darby to be her Secret Weapon Sniper, because it's not gonna happen. Besides, my jaw will drop if I see Tennessee set a screen to free up a shooter. Pat never did it, Holly never did it, and Kelie is honoring the tradition.

I take no pride in pointing out Kellie being in over her head at the expense of our program. I won’t be dancing, just wondering what took everyone else so long. My only regret is Kellie isn’t the coach those hanging on want her to be.

It’s not the girls fault. I 100% support them.

@WinnerCircle time is ticking
Absolutely correct 👍

Key leaving the paint on defense is NEVER smart--just the opposite. She'll be playing Cardosa, which would make it doubly foolish for her to move very far from the basket.
All cocks have do is drive to Pucketts side and Tess when playing. Can’t defend quickness

How about a friendly loser leave town if this happens. Tennessee wins (just wins
outright) I’ll leave the Lady Vols Basketball posting for 3 months from today. If SC wins, you can’t post here (Lady Vols Basketball Forum) until the day after the Women’s Championship game of the NCAAT.

You have until tip-off to accept. After tip no answer it’s off.

Accept by replying “ELITE” or deny by replying “SOFT” @WinnerCircle
@WinnerCircle 6 mins away and no response. Agree or be a NegaVol by not having faith that they would win.

Be ELITE or be SOFT

Some people talk about it, some people be about it! Do the board a favor…many want me to take a break.
