Game Thread: UT @ Auburn, Sunday; 12PM, ESPN2 win 83-76

Sara always sits at the end of the bench when she's out, as does J Franklin, as does Rickea. Only they frequently make Rickea move up to mid bench lol. That's just how the bench sorts itself. Seriously, I give Franklin alot of credit. She's the total Rickea Whisperer always and today she really made an effort to console Sara. And Sara needed it. Bless her heart, poor Sara is really, really struggling.
I really hate to see her struggle. She seems to have taken a step back, but other huge personalities have stepped forward. I suspect she will be fine in her time.

I can see Sara,Wynn and miles transfering....
I don't think Wynn is going anywhere. KJH really loves her, I remember her saying she had been watching film just with her one on one and has said a couple of times what a great kid she is. I still think Wynn has potential, at least as a role player. Miles I can see going, esp if they get a young guard out of the portal. Until recently I would have said Sara wasn't going, but now not so sure. Maybe she decides a smaller school would fit her more. I'd hate to see it, but it's really hard to see her so down.

Yeah, just to be clear, I don't know what the situation was or why Horston might have been reacting to. But I know how my face looks when a Taco Bell can't sell me a Mexican Pizza, and that's not too dissimilar from the look Horston had coming out of the game. RAAAAGE. Or something. Grr. Anyway, maybe she was frustrated at her own play, maybe she was frustrated at someone or something else. Maybe she was genuinely sick or having trouble outside of the game itself. I do not know. I'm not judging her on that. But I do know you could read _something_ on her face when she came off the court. Whatever it is, I hope she can figure it out and work through it.
Her body language was bad nearly the entire game. Looked like she was moping around feeling sorry for herself one moment then angry the next.

She has played enough and will continue to play when the matchups are suitable for her to play more.

Agreed. The issue with her is the matchups aren't suitable more than they are -- especially against the ranked teams we've played. The Stanford game is the only big game where her shooting made a huge difference. She also had a great game vs Mizzou. I wouldn't label either of those teams quick and athletic.

So when the matchups aren't suitable for her, Kellie has to run plays for her to be able to get her shot off. Otherwise, she isn't being set up for success at all.

I actually think Sara could be a solid P5 level player. She was recruited by Jeff Walz and Vic Shaefer. I just don't think her game fits well in the SEC and/or Kellie's system.

I think she is fine, needs to work on her foot speed and confidence in the off-season. In the MIZZOU game when she got more shots and was able to get in a rhythm she looked great.

Seems like she’s having a hard time finding where she fits with both Horston and Jackson out there. Puckett also needs to work on rebounding the ball more aggressively. Both she and Striplin do a nice job of boxing out but they do not release to grab the ball. Always waiting for Horston or someone else to grab it.

Sadly, the Lady Vols have several players who stay nailed to the floor on rebounds. They seem to block out but do not jump for rebounds. That was quite evident in this game.

I don't think it's confidence for her though. As a freshman, she hit the game winner to send us to the S16 and has hit shots in big moments since.

Sara normally does well against teams that aren't as quick and athletic -- which makes it easier to get her shot off or create something out of nothing. I don't consider Mizzou a quick and athletic team. They have smaller players that are also 3pt specialists.

Kellie rarely plays Sara with Horston and Jackson. She's stated multiple times that she likes playing Sara and Rickea together. And even if she did play those three together often, that should free up Sara even more imo. Should take so much pressure off her.

I think for sure we have seven returning so that is eight scholarships. If Horston and Jackson were to return we don't need many players a class of four mostly guards would do just fine. It all depends on who returns right now Horston, Jackson, Key, Suarez, Walker for sure, Franklin for sure, and Rennie back to Australia cuts the roster to Powell, Puckett, Striplin, Darby, Hollingshead, Miles, and Wynn. I can make some argument that Wynn and Miles will transfer as they really need to be recruited over. So seven for sure and possibly five. If all of Horston, Jackson, and Key were to return we don't need the portal that bad just some guards and one post. I am looking for us to go portal heavy depending on who leaves I could see a couple of Grad Transfers and two or three underclassmen. It all depends on what current players decide to do.
Didn’t see Justine’s name.

Puckett can play--but her minutes are way down this year and I suspect she's pressing. Even if she were making shots, I doubt
she'd be playing more than 10 minutes. She seldom plays more than 8 minutes (6 today)--and it's natural to want to make an impact
when you know your PT is going to be limited. Hell, it takes 5 minutes to get your body warmed up and in the flow of a game--and that
may be a better approach for her than coming in and firing up a couple of shots right away.

I don't know about that, but I would say Kellie's highly regarded sophomore class - including these three and throwing in Striplin - has been a massive disappointment this season. The only one who look like she might develop into a player is the transfer Kellie was initially unable to land...

I just wondering what the team will look like next year. There are so many people saying there are numerous players that are transferring and graduating so I wonder if we will have a team on the floor. (Blue Font). There will be players that will mature and discover their game. Tess will possibly learn to shot a mid-range shot. Hollingshed will be stronger for this year. Pissot will possibly spend the offseason working out and getting fitter and stronger to play SEC BB. There are numerous others that will find their feet and be better players for it. Key could possibly come back thanks to the Covid rule/medical redshirt. Others I'm not so sure about. There could also be recruits that come in that will set the game on fire.
As for the game, the highlights showed how Tess finally had a game where she lit it up. Hollingshed had a good game too. So too did Powell. We are going to need more of that when we hit the tournament. If Jackson and Horston are having an off game, we need others to step up.

Think you might be projecting there a bit. No history of Jordy ever having issues with Kellie’s decisions.
And the answer is yes it is tardy and you have to discipline your star just like you would the end of the bench. Boy, are you out of step with the “run them until they puke” caucus on here. I hated it but it was for the best of the team in the long run.🫤

Agreed. That projection should earn a spot in the bad takes hall of fame.

There's a lot of things about Horston's game I will miss next season. Her tantrums aren't one of them.

And it's terrifying to think about life without Jackson...
I’m getting a lot of ignored content warnings! Darth must be on a rampage! Vandy troll feeling emboldened by the big win over Kentucky😂😂😂😂

Just the usual passive-aggressive trolling.

Remember, most people are just talking crap for the sake of talking crap. I will be this team very few if any transfers if any. They are tight knit.
X is going to transfer is a standard narrative but not sure why it has gotten so much worse.
