Gamecocks forum bulletin board material

Well, how about we don't join them.

Everyone knows our team learned a lesson from that game last season.
Question is, will our fans have learned a lesson from that game last season.

Coaches have been saying it for decades: "There are no automatic wins in the SEC."
I will go out on a limb and venture that our fans’ attitudes have 0.0% effect on how the Vols play in a game.

Let 'em dream. They don't have much...no football tradition, bottom half of the league in facilities, zero championships, pitiful basketball program, rookie coach trying to act like a frat boy, crappy city. They need to fantasize to keep morale up.
They didn’t even recruit Ja Morant when he was an IN STATE prospect.

I like how they are trying to say 8 wins isn't the standard for their program, when their fan base is trash talking like they just wom the national championship. 8 wins is exceeding expectations for them...they will revert to thr norm.

Vegas has their over/under at 6.5 wins. If I had to bet I would take the under.

They’ve beaten us 3 times in 21 tries in Knoxville. None of them were blowouts, none of those Tennessee teams even made a bowl.

USCjr is an automatic W most years, if the game’s in Knoxville. Period. And struggling with them on the road is a relatively new phenomenon, as well. We are 10-8 against them there. Before 2008, we were 8-1.

They do have a really tough schedule, and while their fans may scoff at Vegas prediction, they should be happy with 7 wins. I think they will get just that, but wouldn't be surprised if they don't get there either.

Their program is about .500. 6 wins is the standard.

They have an unfounded sec superiority complex and it’s highly probable they lose to two ACC teams. I say they win 2 sec games….at most 3.

If fans start booing at the end of the first half because the score is "only" 21 - 7 Tennessee... I'd hope the mature players would not be effected, but I wonder how recruiting targets at the game might take that.

Some have seen stated in post-game tweets by attending recruits that they interpreted the boos as "how much Tennessee fans care about football." But I haven't traced those responses to see if we landed those players or not.

For 20 years we condemned other teams' fans for being "spoiled" and "entitled." Now that we're finally experiencing success, are we going to join the low-life Bammers, Gators, and 'dogs?

Or are we going to join the family Heupel has formed inside the UTAD, and lift our guys up when they're underperforming? It's each fan's choice, which to be...

Edited additional thought: In the era of easy portal transfers, we fans have more opportunity than ever to be part of the program's success. We can increase the desirability of playing at Tennessee by our words, tweets, and cheers. We can learn to love on our players like adopted kids instead of rented mules. That would really make Tennessee stand out.

1. This team doesn’t need “bulletin board material” for that game.
2. Thousands of fans post dumb stuff every day on social media and message boards. Most goes unseen by players and coaches. They are playing the football team, not the fans behind anonymous accounts. If one of our players gets riled up by some idiot on a message board then I’m concerned. What SC did last year is plenty enough to have these guys ready for that game. If they need anything else, maybe this ain’t the place for them.
3. USC embarrassed us last season. They’ve got bragging rights, this comes with territory.
